“Going To Destroy Them” – Tom Homan Declares War on Cartels After Border Agents Fired Upon

Yesterday we covered the breaking news that suspected cartel gunmen had opened fire on U.S. Border Patrol Agents from across the Rio Grande in Texas.

The American Agents returned fire.  No one was reported hit.

And both governments sent in reinforcements to secure the area on both sides of the river.

Now, President Trump's Border Czar is ratcheting up the rhetoric and promising total destruction for the cartels.

While I don't think President Trump or Homan were kidding around before, it certainly seems as though the language has shifted since the exchange of gunfire yesterday.

That sounds like a full-scale war to me.

Here are a few key statements from that clip:

"It's going to get worse Sean, because President Trump is going to seal that border. He's going to put the cartels out of business."

"He declared them a terrorist organization."

"We got the whole of government is going to dismantle these people and wipe them off the face of the earth. They are not going to go lightly."

"We are taking them on in the trafficking business, we're taking them on in the smuggling business and we're taking them on in the dope business."

"There's going to be more violence on the southwest border, that's why trump committed to calling them a terrorist organization. He has."

"That's why the entire United States government is going to take care of those people and abolish them."

"We're going to attack them not just in Mexico, but in the 42 countries the Jalisco Cartel is currently residing in."

"The Trump administration is going to take them on, just like he did the Caliphate, and we're going to destroy them."

With barely over a week of time passed since taking up residence in the White House for the second time, President Trump has taken numerous steps to prepare to wage war against the cartels.

Starting with an Executive Order on day one of his new administration, President Trump declared a national emergency at the border and designated the cartels terrorist organizations according to a report in The Daily Caller:

Border czar Tom Homan said Monday evening on Fox News that violence on the U.S. southern border could escalate due to cartel pushback as the Trump administration continues to secure the border.

In the first week of his presidency, Donald Trump moved to shut down the U.S. southern border and carry out mass deportations of illegal immigrants, reversing former President Joe Biden’s policies and allowing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to arrest “criminal aliens,” including rapists and murderers. On “Hannity,” host Sean Hannity asked the border czar about the safety of agents and cited a recent report of a cartel shootout with the Border Patrol.

NewsNation’s Ali Bradley reported Monday afternoon that sources from the Department of Homeland Security confirmed Border Patrol agents near Fronton, Texas, were fired at by “suspected cartel members on the Mexico side” and returned fire, with allegations that the cartel members had been “attempting to push a group across the river.” The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed to Fox San Antonio that the agents were fired at from the Mexican side of the border, though no Border Patrol agents were injured in the incident.

The incident occurred near Fronton Island, which has had a slew of issues with cartel members as it sits near the Rio Grande. In September 2024, Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said that DPS and the Texas National Guard were working to stop the “smuggling of drugs, weapons, and people” through Operation Lone Star.

In a handful of executive orders addressing the border and immigration, Trump signed an executive order last week declaring a national emergency at the border and designating the cartels as terrorist organizations.

Homan also mentioned in the initial video with Hannity that part of the U.S. plan against the cartels is to shut down their business operations such as trafficking, smuggling, and drugs.

Just imagine the impact happening right now among the cartels when their lower rung illegal members in the U.S. are afraid to show their faces for fear of capture and deportation.

I have seen enough over just the last 9 days to believe Tom Homan.

When he says we are going to "destroy" the cartels in every nation where they are operating, I believe him.

When he says that President Trump is going to see the cartels destroyed just like we destroyed the ISIS caliphate, I believe him.

There's only one thing I'm waiting for, and that's for United States Special Forces to enter the chat.

These cartels are scary.  They're highly trained and well funded.  They are incredibly violent.  And they tend to roll over anyone they come up against, including the Mexican military.

But they haven't seen anything... until they've come face to face with America's elite warfighters.

That's the helmet cam footage or ISR drone footage I am anticipating!

At some point, the best America has is going to be tasked with a cartel target -- direct action, fast and loud, send a message.

And oh, what a glorious message it will be!
