While most of the focus of the past week has rightfully been on the major milestones President Donald Trump has accomplished thus far in his second term, Vice President JD Vance has also been busy defending the MAGA agenda.
The skilled communicator appeared on CBS over the weekend and made quick work of “Meet The Press” host Margaret Brennan’s efforts to hit him with a gotcha question about the economy.
As if the commander-in-chief could wave a magic wand and lower prices nationwide, Brennan asked Vance to name which executive orders Trump had signed that would accomplish such a feat.
His response proved how adept his is at handling the mainstream media, as the Daily Caller reported:
“We have done a lot and there have been a number of executive orders that have caused already jobs to start coming back into our country, which is a core part of lowering prices,” Vance responded. “More capital investment, more job creation in our economy is one of the things that’s going to drive down prices for all consumers, but also raise wages so that people can afford to buy the things that they need.”
“Prices are going to come down, but it’s going to take a little bit of time, right? The president has been president for all of five days. I think that in those five days, he’s accomplished more than Joe Biden did in four years. It’s been an incredible breakneck pace of activity,” Vance said.
The American public is clearly optimistic that Trump will be able to get the economy back on the right track, which includes putting an end to the runaway inflation of the Biden years.
POTUS: On Day One, I directed every member of my cabinet to marshal all powers at their disposal to defeat inflation…imposed a federal hiring freeze, a regulation freeze, a foreign aid freeze…created DOGE…terminated the Green New Scam…

What is Trump doing to lower the prices of things?
That’s easy he’s lowering energy prices because lower energy prices will lower inflation and lower the prices of goods and services.
People who don’t understand that have no business being in public office or in journalism.

Some anti-Trump social media users were criticized for trying to portray Trump’s first week as a failure because prices didn’t immediately come down.

Vance also backed up Trump’s stance on issues like immigration, including the decision to suspend the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, as CBS News reported:
The refugee program is an 18- to 24-month process that involves interviews, medical screenings and security vetting. Refugee applicants must prove they are fleeing persecution before being allowed into the U.S.
Vance on Saturday seemed to reverse course, questioning whether the program had “properly vetted” the refugees.
“Now that we know that we have vetting problems with a lot of these refugee programs, we absolutely cannot unleash thousands of unvetted people into our country,” Vance declared, without detailing how the refugee program’s vetting process may be faulty.
He provided the example of an Afghan national who came to the U.S. immediately after the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. The man was arrested in Oklahoma in October on federal charges of planning an election day terrorist attack in support of the Islamic State.
“He was allegedly properly vetted, and many people in the media and the Democratic Party said that he was properly vetted,” Vance claimed of the suspect. “Clearly, he wasn’t.”
