Top Talent Manager Admits Harris’ Defeat Has Made A-List Celebrities Irrelevant: ‘Hollywood Doesn’t Matter’

Even though President Donald Trump did attract more celebrity endorsements than a typical Republican might have, it was clear that Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party still had a firm grip on Hollywood.

At the end of the day, however, even some of the biggest stars in the world weren’t able to drag Harris’ disastrous campaign across the finish line.

Now, as much of Los Angeles has literally been burned to the ground, Hollywood is starting to come to terms with its tattered legacy.

One top talent manager offered a candid take on the state of the industry, as Breitbart reported:

“Hollywood doesn’t matter as much as it thinks it matters,” the unnamed talent manager with A-list clients told Vulture. “You had the biggest stars in the world support Kamala Harris. She couldn’t have drawn more powerful advocates. And it didn’t move the needle. What does that tell you? It’s unsettling because the people and things you hold in high esteem don’t drive the culture. As much as I love movies, they aren’t the driver anymore.”

As Breitbart News reported, dozens of A-listers endorsed Kamala Harris, with an unprecedented blitz of endorsements coming in the final days of the campaign. Among the stars to publicly back Harris were Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Stiller, Harrison Ford, Jennifer Lopez, and Julia Roberts.

The Vulture article provided a Hollywood snapshot for the second Trump administration, with sources telling the outlet to expect more media merger activity, less woke-ism, and a concerted effort to not alienate half the country with political sermonizing.

Hollywood’s waning cultural influence has been a common topic of social media discussion since Trump’s decisive Election Day victory:

John Pudner of the Wisconsin Faith and Freedom Coalition made a similar argument in a post-election op-ed published by Newsweek:

Unless celebrities are willing to use their wealth to alleviate the financial burdens voters face that worsened under Biden and Harris, their political opinions are irrelevant to most Americans.

The pattern is clear—no one cares who celebrities think they should support. While celebrities and Democrats excel at raising and spending money—such as the $1 million Harris’ campaign reportedly spent on Oprah’s event during their $1.5 billion total campaign war chest spending fee—this strategy often fails to resonate with voters. Harris’ 226 electoral votes along with her becoming the first Democrat since John Kerry to lose the popular vote underscore the ineffectiveness of star-studded endorsements.

These endless examples tell a story of wealth and disconnect, with average voters consistently choosing policy over celebrity spectacle. If history is any guide, the “kiss of death” from celebrity endorsements is likely to continue.

Here’s some more commentary suggesting that celebrity endorsements have essentially become meaningless:
