A United Airlines flight bound for Puerto Rico made an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport on Saturday morning.
According to PIX 11, FAA and Port Authority officials said the aircraft returned to Newark around 10 a.m. after the crew reported a fire alarm in the flight deck.

PIX 11 reports:
All 230 customers and eight crew members exited the plane safely after landing, according to a United Airlines representative. The FAA is continuing to investigate what may have happened.
It marks the second time flight 2143 was forced to turn back to Newark Airport after it made an emergency landing last Saturday. However, a United Airlines spokesperson says the flights took place on different aircraft.

“United flight 2143 returned to Newark Liberty International Airport as a precaution to an alarm sounding in the flight deck. The aircraft landed safely and customers deplaned normally at the gate. We’ve arranged for a new aircraft to take our customers to San Juan this afternoon,” a United Airlines spokesperson told PIX 11.
ABC 7 New York noted:
The incident happened just before 10 a.m. Saturday.
The pilot was able to return safely to the departure point. No injuries were reported and the incident was under control by 10:15 a.m.
The emergency landing comes just a week after the airline made another emergency landing at Newark Airport.
A United Flight on the same route to Puerto Rico was forced to return to Newark after a mechanical issue was reported.
Passengers on that flight were also returned to the airport safely.
In related news, a United Airlines flight from Lagos, Nigeria to Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia made an emergency landing after experiencing mid-air technical issues.
The aircraft returned to Lagos and made an emergency landing.
