Elon Musk Tells Germany To Embrace Pride, Election Is Vital

Elon Musk delivered a very important message today while speaking at rally for Germany’s anti-immigration, far-right party, Alternative for Germany (AfD).

Musk made a surprise appearance via video link at the event to talk about the importance of Germany’s upcoming election.

He touched on Germany’s “past guilt” over their Nazi history during WW2 and urged supporters to let go of that.

Instead, he said they should embrace their national pride, delivering a simple, but powerful statement,

“It’s good to be proud of German culture, German values, and not to lose that in some sort of multiculturalism that dilutes everything.”

From Sky News:

Elon Musk made a surprise appearance at a far-right campaign event in Germany where he urged supporters to move beyond their “past guilt”.

Speaking via video link to a hall of around 4,500 Alternative for Germany (AfD) supporters in the central city of Halle, the world’s richest man said: “It’s good to be proud of German culture, German values, and not to lose that in some sort of multiculturalism that dilutes everything.”

Mr Musk caused outrage last week after making a gesture at Donald Trump’s inauguration which many compared to a Nazi salute.

At the rally on Saturday he made an apparent reference to Germany’s Nazi past, saying “children should not be guilty of the sins of their parents, let alone their great grandparents”.

He added: “There is too much focus on past guilt, and we need to move beyond that.”

Speaking in favour of the far-right party, Mr Musk told the crowd: “I’m very excited for the AfD, I think you’re really the best hope for Germany. Fight for a great future for Germany.”

It was the second time in the last two weeks Mr Musk has publicly spoken in support of the anti-immigration, anti-Islamic party, which has been labelled right-wing-extremist by German security services.

Elon Musk’s message is going viral online, notably because it spoke to the so-called “German guilt,” that is, a very deeply-ingrained self-hatred that has been imposed upon Germans since the end of the second World War — despite the war ending nearly a century ago.

Brittany Sellner perfectly explained why Musk’s message resonated so deeply with Germans:

Many Germans, like Naomi Seibt, have reacted positively to Musk’s message:

However, as you may have guessed, not everyone is so happy with Elon Musk’s message.

Left-wingers are up in arms, claiming that this proves that Elon Musk is a Nazi (despite Elon Musk’s message being one of letting go of the past and moving forward, not returning to it.)

Here’s what they’re saying:
