NYC Mayor Says He Was ‘Targeted’ By Biden Administration, Told To ‘Be A Good Democrat, Eric’

After cruising into office in 2021 with the backing of the Democratic Party, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has lost much of that support due to his willingness to address the party’s disastrous immigration policies.

During a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, Adams revealed some of the alarming behind-the-scenes conversations he had with the Biden administration on the topic.

According to TheBlaze:

Adams explained that when he spoke with Biden and his aides about the immigration crisis, he was told to “be a good Democrat, Eric.”

“That was the basic overall theme. One of his aides told me that, ‘Listen, this is like a gallstone; it’ll pass,'” Adams said.

Later in the interview, the mayor elaborated on the reception he received from the administration.

“I think they used the terminology, ‘You were not being a good Democrat.’ I think that was their philosophy. That I was supposed to silently watch what happens to this city, and I love this city,” he said.

The immigration crisis in New York City cost its taxpayers $6.5 billion, according to Adams, who noted that the Biden administration offered to give the city an “unrealistic” $138 million to offset the expenses.

When asked whether he believed the federal indictment was “punishment for complaining” about the immigration crisis, Adams responded, “That is clearly my belief.”

Of course, there has long been speculation that Adams is facing a bribery investigation at least in part as a form of political retaliation. He has consistently maintained his innocence.

Adams has become a polarizing figure as a result of his immigration stance, which has earned some praise from some on the right:

Adams also confirmed this week that he would be working alongside U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under President Donald Trump’s leadership to address the immigration crisis.

According to Fox News:

Adams, a Democrat, said that migrants who commit violent crimes in the Big Apple would be dealt with by federal agencies despite the city’s sanctuary city laws.

“There is a lot of room, we already have task forces with federal partners,” Adams said when asked if his administration can work ICE and at the same time comply with its sanctuary city law, which limits cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

“The law is clear, the law is clear of criminality. I’ve made that clear,” Adams said. “Even before the elections, I made that clear with the focus that people who commit these violent crimes must be addressed.”

New York City experienced an unprecedented influx of illegal immigrants under the Biden administration, with more than 225,000 migrants arriving since 2022. The surge also coincides with a sharp rise in migrant-related crime, while the bloodthirsty Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua has also gained a foothold in the city.
