Key Democrat Senator Rumored To Change Party Affiliation and Become Republican!

Rumors are circulating that a Democratic senator is going to switch to the Republican Party next week.

“Just left a conversation and my source indicated to me that a key Democratic senator is expected to change party affiliation to Republican by next week. Wow!” Jamel Holley, a former New Jersey Assemblyman and advisor to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said.

Many X users speculated the rumor pertains to Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA):

Earlier this month, Fetterman was the first sitting Democratic senator to meet with President Trump.

Per CBS News:

Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has accepted an invitation from President-elect Donald Trump to meet with him at his Mar-a-Lago estate, according to multiple sources familiar with the plans.

“That is the plan. Yes, we are going to have a conversation,” Fetterman told CBS News about the upcoming meeting.

The trip will mark the first known time a sitting Democratic U.S. senator is meeting with Trump at his Palm Beach residence since the election.

“I think that one, he’s the president, or he will be officially,” Fetterman said. “And I think it’s pretty reasonable that if the president would like to have a conversation — or invite someone to have a conversation — to have it. And no one is my gatekeeper.”

However, Fetterman denied the rumor that he would change his party affiliation.

“That’s amateur hour s***,” Fetterman told Semafor.

“If they think, ‘oh, it’s going to be like a Manchin or a Sinema play,’ that’s just not true, and that’s not going to happen,” he added.

Semafor reports:

The Pennsylvania Democratic senator has stirred plenty of intrigue with his recent visit to Mar-a-Lago to see President Donald Trump, his work with Republicans on the Laken Riley Act and his support for the Israeli government. He’s actively trying to change the way his party deals with Trump, urging Democrats not to freak out about the president’s controversial actions and stay open to confirming his nominees.

But Fetterman said his party affiliation and place in the Senate Democratic caucus is “not going to change,” adding that he’s privately expressed that to colleagues in leadership.
