‘Hard Lessons Learned’: Conor McGregor Celebrates President Trump’s Growing Popularity

President Donald Trump took office on Monday with his approval rate somewhere near an all-time high. His inauguration was a star-studded event featuring performances at related celebrations from even a few artists who previously demonized him.

For UFC star Conor McGregor, who was at one of the pre-inauguration balls, the president’s wide appeal is evidence that many Americans are starting to think outside of the leftist echo chamber.

As Fox News reported:

“Amazing to be here. I’m very excited. Very optimistic about the future,” McGregor said. “And it’s a good time here in the United States. I was here the last time Donald Trump became president in 2016. And the energy and the response is night and day, which is a testament to how he’s done as a president, his last run, and how he’s handled himself since.”

McGregor praised Trump’s resiliency to get back up after a 2020 election loss and get back into the game. He expected Trump and his Cabinet to take a lot of action within the first 100 days.

When asked about what’s different this time, the Irishman said it felt like more Americans are in Trump’s corner.

“Lessons learned. Hard lessons learned,” he said. “And a backing of his country now. I feel the people are backing him. And I’m excited to see him go do it. I hope he does, and I wish him all the best.”

The broad coalition of voters that helped usher Trump back into the Oval Office has been a common topic of social media discussion in recent months:

McGregor wasn’t the only high-profile fighter in attendance at the event, as the New York Post reported:

Conor McGregor and the Paul brothers are buddying up in the nation’s capital.

The controversial MMA fighter was heading to Donald Trump’s inauguration Monday morning in Washington, D.C., carpooling with two long-rumored potential boxing opponents: Jake and Logan Paul.

The trio co-posted a carousel of images featuring their smiling mugs to their Instagram accounts with the caption, “Inauguration going great.”
