The National Weather Service has issued what is called a “PDS” — a Particularly Dangerous Situation.
The fact that there is a preexisting acronym for that should tell us a little bit about the severity of the conditions the NWS is warning about.
With multiple fires still burning in the area, 100 MPH winds are almost certain to kick up more fires.

As we just learned, the now infamous Palisades Fire (which is still burning) broke out just a few weeks after a big group of LA firefighters crammed into the LA Fire commission meeting and warned that Karen Bass’ budget cuts were putting property and lives at risk.
The group told the LA Fire commission point blank that people would die.
Watch this:
21 days before the Palisades Fire broke out, Los Angeles Fire personnel jammed into a LA Fire commission meeting with a dire warning about the consequences of Karen Bass’ budget cuts.

Unfortunately, those fire professionals were right.
How much of the budget and mismanagement mess that led up to the fires and the terrible response has been fixed since the calamity of the last few weeks kicked off?
The answer is likely worse than “zero”, because the resources and plans that were in place have now been used and taxed beyond their stretching point.
That means Los Angeles is likely LESS prepared for the new fires which will almost certainly flare up in the coming days… than they were when the Palisades fire initially broke out.
The gusts could peak at 70 mph along the coast, and up to 100 mph in the more elevated areas, according to a report by the Associated Press:
Southern Californians are bracing for gusty winds and a heightened risk of wildfires, less than two weeks after the outbreak of deadly blazes that have killed at least 27 people and charred thousands of homes.
The National Weather Service has issued a warning of a “ particularly dangerous situation ” for parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning due to low humidity and damaging Santa Ana winds. Gusts could peak at 70 mph (113 kph) along the coast and 100 mph (160 kph) in the mountains and foothills.
Windy weather and single-digit humidity are expected to linger through Thursday, said Rich Thompson, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service. He said the fire risk is also elevated because the region hasn’t seen rain since April.
As this X user pointed out, the National Weather Service has expanded the “extreme critical” zone for fire danger several times already.
That likely means the algorithms are attempting to catch up with the reality of the developing situation.
In other words, it is likely to be worse than the models are forecasting, not better.
For those who aren't acquainted with our mountain ranges… here's a map!

Los Angeles fire authorities are emphasizing proactive measures before the likely uptick in wildfires as a result of the wind.
Resources are being prepositioned, according to a story in the Santa Monica Mirror:
CAL FIRE has announced increased firefighter staffing and pre-positioned resources across the region to respond swiftly to potential incidents. Authorities emphasize the importance of taking proactive measures to reduce fire risk:
- Avoid outdoor fires or campfires during dry and windy conditions.
- Inspect equipment, ensuring spark arrestors on off-road vehicles are in proper working order.
- Refrain from activities that involve fire or sparks, such as welding or using machinery, during critical conditions.
Residents are encouraged to secure their homes and create defensible spaces to mitigate fire danger. Resources for wildfire prevention and preparation are available at PreventWildfireCA.org.
The fact that this coincides with President Trump’s inauguration might be purely coincidental.
Reason would argue that it is just that, and that the one doesn’t have anything to do with the other.
In spite of sounding like the proverbial conspiracy theorist, I can’t help but wonder… just how far the conspiracies truly go.
At any rate, this is almost certain to bring more devastation and danger to an area already struggling under the ramifications of democrat leadership.
This is a developing story, and we will bring you updates as they happen.
In the meantime, please join me in praying for all those effected by these events, and the likely continuation under the current wind forecast.
