As one of the most divisive presidential administrations in U.S. history draws to a close, Joe Biden is left with little more than a legacy of failure and incompetence after five decades in public office.
But as he counts down the hours until President Donald Trump replaces him, Biden remains unwilling or unable to confront the true deficiencies of his four years as an occupant of the White House.
He offered an absurd assessment of his term during a recent interview with MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell, suggesting that his only mistake is that he wasn’t enough of a partisan hack.
According to The Hill:
O’Donnell asked about Biden saying last month that it was stupid of him to not sign the COVID-19 stimulus checks that went out early in his administration, after President-elect Trump put his name on checks during his first term. He asked Biden if it crossed his mind to sign his name.
“It did cross my mind. But the mistake we made was, I think I made, was not getting our allies to acknowledge that the Democrats did this,” he said.
“Ironically, I almost spent too much time on the policy, not enough time on the politics,” Biden added. “Because, I mean… you have some senators in Congress, Democratic senators in Congress saying, ‘Well, you know, Joe Biden did this, and this is done by so and so and so and so and this is the new, you know, built by the Democratic Party kind of thing.’”
The president said that while people should know who is responsible for assistance, like the COVID-19 stimulus checks, he considers boasting to be rude.

Social media clips of Biden’s remarks were inundated with snarky replies from unconvinced Americans:
So Biden is admitting the raging inflation was his fault? Interesting….

Looking at the policies, the country would've been better off had he spent even less time on them.

That's wild.. He is admitting that under his watch, the inflation soared. It's true, of course, I'm just surprised he remembers, let alone admitting it

Of course, O’Donnell dutifully used his role in the interview to paint Biden’s legacy in a positive light.
As Fox News reported:
“Listen, I said you’d never get an infrastructure bill,” O’Donnell told Biden in the final interview of his presidency released on Thursday. “With my legislative experience, having worked in the Senate, I didn’t see how it was possible with this tiny, smallest Senate majority in history. To this day, it looks like a magic trick to me, how you pulled that off.”
Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, signed into law on Nov. 15, 2021, has directed billions of dollars toward environmental projects, including advancing clean energy through public transportation and environmental clean-up.
Despite softball questions like this throughout the interview, Biden continued to fuel the public’s perception that he is cognitively unfit for the job.
