House Speaker Mike Johnson has removed Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) from the chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee.
There is also a controversy over whether President Trump did, or didn’t, request the change.
According to many reputable sources, President Trump did in fact make the request of Speaker Johnson, but there are many contesting that current reporting.

The move follows several high-profile flaps involving Rep. Turner including an his refusal to vote in favor of censuring Adam Schiff for lying about the “Russian collusion” hoax.
Turner also revealed rather dramatically that some type of nuclear capability by Russia was potentially going to be fielded into space — a move that seemingly caught everyone off guard, including the Republican leadership.
Turner apparently took that partial classified information to the press without even discussing the matter with Congressional Republicans.

Turner had just attended a dinner with President Trump last weekend attended by all the House Republican Committee heads.
The move was unexpected and caught many by surprise, but Speaker Johnson was openly upset by Turner’s handling of the Russian anti-satellite technology according to Fox News:
Speaker Mike Johnson is replacing Rep. Mike Turner as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee after a debacle that started with a warning about Russian space nuclear technology last year, a source familiar with the decision confirmed to Fox News Digital.
Johnson, R-La., was unhappy with Turner, R-Ohio, after a seemingly unexpected warning he issued about the need to declassify information about Russian anti-satellite technology.
A hawk by nature, Turner sometimes went up against the Trumpist wing of his Republican Party on matters like support for Ukraine aid and Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
The decision to replace Turner took many by surprise. Though Johnson had not officially named him as chairman, Turner attended a dinner of House GOP committee chairs with President-elect Trump over the weekend.
Mike Turner has also been very outspoken and downright pushy about shoveling American funds towards Ukraine.
That never-ending cycle of writing larger and larger checks made out to Ukraine is something that is expected to change rather quickly under President Trump’s leadership.

Natalie Winters, host of Steve Bannons War Room show while he served jail time as a political prisoner, connected the dots on Mike Turner ahead of the curve.
Check out this video from last year in which Winters makes the connection between Turner’s propensity to spend American dollars on behalf of Ukrainian borders.
Meanwhile, his own home district was being ravaged by Joe Biden’s immigration policy — which he attacked President Trump and JD Vance for calling into question!
Springfield’s Congressman @RepMikeTurner is one of the largest shills for Ukraine.
While his district gets destroyed with a state-sponsored invasion, he uses his power to defend Ukraine’s borders.

As I previously pointed out, it has been widely reported that President Trump preferred Mike Turner no longer hold the chair of the Intel Committee, and Speaker Johnson acted on the President’s wishes.
The Washington Post and other outlets reported that information, though many contested it as untrue — as if there would be something improper if it proved true.

CBS News Foreign Affairs Correspondent Margaret Brennan posted on X that she had spoken with Turner, who claimed Johnson cited “concerns from Mar-a-Lago” as the reason for the demotion.
Similarly, Nick Sortor posted on X that President Trump had requested the removal, citing Washington Post reporting, according to Newsweek:
CBS News foreign affairs correspondent and Face the Nation moderator Margaret Brennan, on X: “I spoke with House intel chair Mike Turner (R-OH) who told me that Speaker Johnson has fired him as chair of the committee overseeing the intelligence community. Johnson cited ‘concerns from Mar a Lago’ as justification for the removal. Rep Jim Himes (D-CT) tells CBS that this ‘just sends a shiver down my spine.'”
Conservative influencer Nick Sortor, on X: “JUST IN: President Trump PERSONALLY requested Mike Johnson remove RINO Mike Turner from powerful position of Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, per WaPo We’re weeding out those who will intentionally impede Trump’s agenda. Good on you, @SpeakerJohnson Turner voted AGAINST the censure of Adam Schiff, even though Turner KNEW Schiff lied about ‘Russian collusion’ MORE OF THIS!”
Check out Brennan’s post below.
No doubt that democrats are going to be ringing alarm bells, concerned that President Trump is “literally Hitler” again.

In any event, it should not surprise democrats, RINOs, or anyone else for that matter that a Republican with a tendency to unilaterally thwart President Trump simply as a means to placate democrats in his district would find himself removed from one of the most powerful committee chairs in Congress.
It almost seems as if the “America First” talk went right over everyone’s head.
Not to mention, Speaker Johnson just narrowly avoided removal himself, and likely would not have retained the Speaker position had it not been for President Trump’s support.
For all the tongue wagging and panic over the possibility that a President somehow influenced the chairmanship of a Congressional committee, many people are missing the point entirely.
The days of individuals amassing their own power and engaging in deals to further their own agendas are likely going to end, at least for the time being.
There is far less room in Washington DC for that sort of “everyone for themselves” mentality, when you have true leadership proactively and methodically enacting a comprehensive agenda for the good of the nation, as opposed to the good of any one person.
I could be wrong — but I don’t think this is going to be the last time President Trump is accused of intervening in Congressional matters.
And while I don’t think democrats and anti-Trump RINOs will likely learn to accept it, I do suspect they will have a hard time doing anything about it.
