President Trump Just Announced Plans To Create A New Federal Agency

Millions of President Donald Trump’s supporters across the U.S. believe the IRS has been collecting too much taxpayer money and squandering it on leftist domestic policies and international boondoggles like the war in Ukraine.

Trump, however, is preparing to shift from focusing solely on internal revenue by announcing the creation of the External Revenue Service.

He addressed the topic on social media this week, as Fox Business reported:

“For far too long, we have relied on taxing our Great People using the Internal Revenue Service (IRS),” Trump wrote on TRUTH Social.

“Through soft and pathetically weak Trade agreements, the American Economy has delivered growth and prosperity to the World, while taxing ourselves,” the president-elect continued. “It is time for that to change. I am today announcing that I will create the EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE to collect our Tariffs, Duties, and all Revenue that come from Foreign sources.”

He added: “We will begin charging those that make money off of us with Trade, and they will start paying, FINALLY, their fair share. January 20, 2025, will be the birth date of the External Revenue Service. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Trump made the imposition of tariffs a primary focus of his successful re-election campaign and has continued endorsing such revenue streams in the weeks since his victory:

AP News reported on Trump’s latest push for tariffs as well as some of the backlash his plans have received from Democratic leaders:

Tariffs, with the threat of a potential 25% levy on all goods from allies like Canada and Mexico and 60% on goods from China, have become a benchmark of Trump’s economic agenda as he heads into his second term.

Economists have said the cost of the tariffs will be passed on to consumers, and are generally skeptical of them, considering them a mostly inefficient way for governments to raise money and promote prosperity.

Democratic lawmakers were quick to criticize the External Revenue Service plan.

“No amount of silly rebranding will hide the fact that Trump is planning a multi-trillion-dollar tax hike on American families and small businesses to pay for another round of tax handouts to the rich,” Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden, the top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, said in a statement.

Here’s a look at how China is preparing for the looming tariffs:
