Anyone who expected Pam Bondi to walk into a cozy tea party for her Senate confirmation hearing simply wasn’t paying attention.
But what she has endured, particularly at the hands of someone like Senator Mazie Hirono from Hawaii — who may or may not have shown up drunk to Pete Hegseth’s hearing the day before — is tantamount to a 2-year-old throwing a tantrum after not getting her way.
In other words, President Trump defeated her good buddy Kamala Harris for the presidency, and now the good Senator is one sip of Mai Tai away from screaming and kicking on the floor.
Senator Hirono started off feigning protocol with her first set of questions.
But the arrogance and disdain she holds for anyone aligned with President Trump was likely palpable on the Senate floor (alongside the smell of Wild Turkey she’d smuggled into the chamber inside her water bottle).
Check out what happened when Hirono asked if Attorney General Bondi would investigate President Trump’s political enemies if he ordered it:
🚨 HOLY SH*T. Pam Bondi just destroyed Senator Mazie Hirono for refusing to meet with her.
HIRONO: Would you investigate Trump's political enemies?
BONDI: I wish you had met with me. If you did, we could have discussed these things. No, we will follow the law.
HIRONO: Can you… pic.twitter.com/8pbf6hJRmm

Here’s a recap from Eric Daugherty’s play-by-play of that awesome uno-reverse card:
HIRONO: Would you investigate Trump’s political enemies?
BONDI: I wish you had met with me. If you did, we could have discussed these things. No, we will follow the law.
HIRONO: Can you respond?
BONDI: You were the only one who refused to meet with me. We would’ve discussed this.
Pam Bondi kept her cool, as one would expect if you’ve followed her for any time.
Amazingly, Hirono appeared to keep her cool as well. (I hear it doesn’t take but a swig or two of Boone’s Farm to help with that.)
But Hirono wasn’t finished. In fact, she was just getting warmed up.
Check out this clip in which Hirono asked a loaded question about the border in an attempt to paint Bondi and Trump as racist for their immigration and border policy:
Incredible back and forth between Mazie Hirono and Pam Bondi…
HIRONO: "[Trump] has also said illegal immigration is poisoning the blood of our nation. Do you agree?"
BONDI: "I went to the border a few months ago. I went to Yuma, AZ. I went to a rape crisis center. It was… pic.twitter.com/hF3TMFIWAw

Here’s a recap of that play-by-play from Charlie Kirk’s post:
HIRONO: “[Trump] has also said illegal immigration is poisoning the blood of our nation. Do you agree?”
BONDI: “I went to the border a few months ago. I went to Yuma, AZ. I went to a rape crisis center. It was horrific. I’m sure you’ve been to the border as well, so you can answer that.”
HIRONO: I want to get to the next question…
I could be wrong, but it appears that Hirono didn’t appreciate the direction that line of questioning was headed.
Either that, or she just got distracted and lost her focus. (Studies have shown that Wild Turkey has been known to cause such issues.)
But the fact that Hirono led off the questioning by asking Bondi about requests she may have made in the past for “sexual favors” and whether she has engaged in sexual harassment, I have to wonder if she was confused about whose hearing she would be attending. (Hangover… maybe?)
Mazie Hirono, who seems slightly less Drunk today. Just asked Pam Bondi if shes ever "made sexual advances" towards someone…

The fact that Hirono refused to meet with Pam Bondi, the nominee for U.S. Attorney General, is both typical for Hirono and yet concerning.
The Senate’s “advise and consent” role would typically see nominees meeting with Senators prior to their confirmation hearings.
And yet, Hirono is known for throwing the “rules and norms” out when she doesn’t get her way (alongside Kamala Harris) as the Daily Caller reported:
“You were the only one who refused to meet with me, Senator,” Bondi revealed, before adding that “what we would have discussed is that it is the job of the attorney general to follow the law.”
The revelation that Hirono refused to meet with Bondi flies in the face of political norms. As part of the Senate’s “advise and consent” role, Senators typically meet with and hear from cabinet appointees ahead of their hearings.
Hirono tweeted about how important the process was in 2018 while the Senate debated the Supreme Court appointment of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
“The Senate’s advice and consent process to evaluate Supreme Court nominees is a job interview, not a criminal trial. There is no entitlement to a seat on the Supreme Court. Brett Kavanaugh’s character, credibility, and candor matter,” she wrote.
Hirono criticized Republicans in 2018 for setting aside “all rules and norms” during Kavanaugh’s confirmation process, going so far as to walk out of his confirmation process, alongside then-Democratic California Senator Kamala Harris.
“This Committee and the Republicans have tossed out all rules and norms to push Brett Kavanaugh onto the Supreme Court. We will not be part of this sham,” she wrote on Twitter.
It takes a lot of audacity (or a few extra pulls on the jug) to storm out of a confirmation hearing claiming that the other side is tossing out “all rules and norms”, while neglecting her sacred “advise and consent” role then, and now.
Riley Gaines, who has become quite the conservative commentator as of late, chimed in with this perfect reaction on X:
Imagine thinking Maxie Hirono is qualified to be a U.S. Senator but Pam Bondi isn't qualified to be U.S. Attorney General lol
— Riley Gaines (@Riley_Gaines_) January 15, 2025
That perfectly sums up the situation, and perfectly illustrates exactly why the election went the way it did.
The meritless leadership that have snuck into the leadership of this nation, daring to question the merit of true patriots intent and QUALIFIED to bring this nation back on track is just about as cringe as you can get.
That “advise and consent” role that Hirono has often touted, she has also often disparaged by her actions.
Remember when she (alongside her good buddy Kamala, a Senator at the time) neglected their “advise and consent” role — and walked out of Justice Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing?
This morning, @SenKamalaHarris and I walked out of the Judiciary Committee markup on Brett Kavanaugh. This Committee and the Republicans have tossed out all rules and norms to push Brett Kavanaugh onto the Supreme Court. We will not be part of this sham. pic.twitter.com/F1coQbXrwd

If you’ll notice, Hirono posted the above — bragging about neglecting her duty as a Senator, as if she had taken some moral high road.
And it is exactly that sort of empty show boating, all talk and no character, that put Pam Bondi in the Senate today to be confirmed as the next U.S. Attorney General.
People are tired of the meritless drivel of people like Mazie Hirono, but they aren’t going to go away without throwing a few tantrums, first.
You can watch the entirety of Senator Hirono’s first round of questioning for Pam Bondi here:
Thankfully, enough Americans woke up in time to cast their ballots for a change far beyond the political empty promises of most politicians.
And if what we are seeing in the confirmation hearings that are already happening is any sign of things to come, you can expect a lot more kicking and screaming as the toddlers in the room are put in their place, finally.
