BREAKING: ‘Multiple People On Fire’ Reported in Malibu CA, Emergency Crews Responding

UPDATE (As of 11:55PM CST):  According to RAWSALERTS, one of the first breaking news accounts to share the 911 call online, the incident involved a “pole” fire and not “multiple people” as was widely reported.

Thankfully, there appears to have been no threat beyond the potential for another fire spreading, and by all accounts the “pole” fire has been extinguished without further incident.

This is a breaking story, and there is very little to go on at the moment.

There are reportedly a number of people in the Malibu area “on fire”, with emergency crews responding.

Reports have started circulating online that include a section of a 911 call regarding the matter.

It is unclear at this time how many people are on fire, or the cause, but you can clearly hear in the 911 call that people are reported to be on fire.

Please be advised — this is very preliminary information, and could prove to be anything from a hoax, an accident, to a terror attack.

Emergency crews reportedly responding to reports of multiple people on fire in Malibu late on Wednesday. According to reports, authorities received a 911 call and are investigating the incident. The number of individuals affected remains unclear at this time. Officials are yet to issue a statement.

These reports come in as firefighters continued battling two massive wildfires in the Los Angeles County area on Wednesday. At least 25 people have died and thousands have been displaced since the fires first broke out last week. Talking about evacuations and locals wanting to return to their home, LA Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley said: “We understand your desire to return to your communities. However, significant safety and infrastructure issues remain, including downed power lines, broken gas lines, hazardous materials, unsafe water.”

Again, information is very sparse, and it is very possible that this is either a prank or relatively small incident being blown out of proportion.

We will bring you updates to this developing story as information becomes available.
