Residences across the Los Angeles area have been reduced to rubble in recent days as uncontrolled wildfires destroy much of the city.
While celebrity mansions have attracted a significant amount of the media’s attention, ordinary Americans are dealing with the loss of their homes and possessions the best they can.
For one family, that meant vocally praising God from the site of their recently burned house.

In Altadena, California, a Catholic family who lost their house in the historic wildfires stood together in the rubble of what was their home and sang praise songs, video shows.
The video, uploaded by Gianna Halpin and shared by journalist Sachin Jose, shows the Halpin family singing “Regina Caeli” in Latin. According to a fundraiser set up for the family, the Halpins lived in the home for 35 years before it was destroyed on Tuesday night.
The family’s unabashed display of faith attracted a tremendous amount of social media support:

The video was even shared by some celebrities, including Bette Midler, as the Daily Mail reported:
Bette Midler has shared a heartbreaking clip of a family singing a hymn in the ruins of their home of 37 years, which was destroyed by the Los Angeles fires.
Beginning this Tuesday, the area was struck by its worst windstorms in over a decade, fueling fires that have destroyed thousands of structures and claimed at least 11 lives over the course of the week.
About 130,000 people were put under evacuation orders or warnings, as the authorities sent out K-9 units trained to detect human remains in the wreckage.
