JD Vance Says “There’s A Deal To Be Made In Greenland”

In a recent interview on Fox News, Vice President-elect JD Vance said, “There’s a deal to be made in Greenland.”

Vance’s comment comes weeks after President Trump has hinted the United States should own Greenland for economic and strategic purposes.

Vance on Fox News Sunday said, “We don’t have to use military force, Shannon. The thing that people always ignore is that we already have troops in Greenland.”

He added, “Greenland is really important for America strategically.”

Here’s what Salon reported:

JD Vance is open to any angle that could help close a deal on Donald Trump’s desired annexation of Greenland.

Speaking on “Fox News Sunday,” the vice president-elect hinted at a potential flex of the United States’ military muscle on the Arctic island. Host Shannon Bream wondered if Trump would be willing to use the military in his designs on the Panama Canal, Canada and Greenland, causing Vance to laugh and point out the extensive nature of the country’s hidden empire.

Per Axios:

Vice President-elect JD Vance said in an interview aired Sunday that “there’s a deal to be made in Greenland” amid President-elect Trump’s indication that he wants the U.S. to own the world’s largest island.

Trump’s refusal to rule out military force to acquire Greenland, currently defended by NATO member Denmark, or the Panama Canal sent shockwaves through the U.S. and its ally nations.

Vance said on “Fox News Sunday” that military force isn’t needed in Greenland, and that the U.S. already has troops stationed on the island.

Trump has repeatedly said that controlling Greenland is critical for U.S. national security, a talking point that Vance echoed on Sunday.

Danish officials, in private messages sent to Trump’s team, expressed willingness to boost security in Greenland or increase U.S. military presence there, Axios’ Barak Ravid and Dave Lawler report.

Greenland is “really important for America strategically” and has “a lot of great natural resources,” Vance said.
