A series of Hollywood celebrities have announced in recent days that their California homes are among those that have been destroyed by massive wildfires across Los Angeles and beyond.
Among the most recent entertainers to join the list was actor Mel Gibson, who revealed he was a guest on Joe Rogan’s popular podcast at the time flames were engulfing his Malibu residence.
According to the New York Post:
“I was kind of ill at ease while we were talking because I knew my neighborhood was on fire, so I thought, ‘I wonder if my place is still there,’” the actor, 69, told NewsNation’s “Elizabeth Vargas Reports” late Thursday.
“But when I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there.”
“The Patriot” actor, who blasted California Gov. Gavin Newsom over his handling of the crisis during his interview with the mega-popular podcaster, said his Malibu property was in “cinders” by the time he returned.
“I have never seen a place so perfectly burnt,” he said.
“There was a dozen places or so that were just non-existent. I mean, nothing but a chimney and a few roof tiles, and you dare not walk around for the nails and the whole deal. The vehicles were gone, everything,” Gibson added.
The celebrity factor has contributed to the virality of social media posts about the ongoing L.A. fires, including recent updates about Gibson’s home:
Wow. This is so sad. God bless Mel Gibson. 🙏 https://t.co/B8PJfJ8SCv

During his recent podcast appearance, Gibson discussed why he believes Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom is at least partially to blame for the natural disaster that has destroyed so much of the state.
As Fox News reported:
The conversation then turned to how the state is being managed by its overwhelmingly Democratic government.
“They spent $24 billion last year on the homeless, and what did they spend on preventing these wildfires?” Rogan asked. “Zip.”
“Zip,” Gibson agreed. “And in 2019, Newsom said, you know, that he would take care of the forest, maintain the forest and do all that kinda stuff. He didn’t do anything.”
“On top of that, they cut the water off,” Rogan said.
Gibson then joked, “All our tax dollars probably went for Gavin’s hair gel.”
Rogan has also been a notable figure in the story due to his repeated predictions of a devastating fire in the Golden State:
