A person onboard a JetBlue plane at Boston Logan International Airport opened an exit door as the plane was taxiing for takeoff.
Massachusetts State Police spokesperson Tim McGuirk shared that the door was opened “suddenly and without warning” around 7:30 p.m.
JetBlue said: “The flight was eventually swapped to another aircraft and has since landed in San Juan. We greatly appreciate our customers’ understanding as we work to address this situation.”
The passenger who opened the door expects to face charges and will be arraigned on Wednesday evening.

The opening of the overwing exit door caused an emergency slide to deploy aboard JetBlue flight 161 from Boston to San Juan, the airline said in a statement.
