DEVELOPING: Republican Congresswoman Reportedly Falls Down Stairs, “Bleeding” And “Receiving Medical Attention”


ABC News reporter John R. Parkinson is reporting that Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) has fallen down stairs in the House of Representatives and receiving medical attention.

The North Carolina Republican is 81.

“A bleeding Rep. Virginia Foxx is currently receiving medical attention – holding her nose as she receives aid – appears to have fallen down marble stairs on West side of House. Lots of blood but officer tells me she’s okay as press is cleared from area. She is conscious/ talking,” Parkinson said.

“Still not tired of winning. Congratulations, @SpeakerJohnson!” Foxx said earlier on Friday.

Fox News Senior Congressional Correspondent Chad Pergram also reported on Foxx receiving medical attention.

“House Education Cmte Chair Virginia Foxx appears to have fallen on one of the grand staircases on the GOP side of the chamber between the 2nd/3rd floor. Appears to be bleeding and is being attended to on the steps by Capitol medical personnel,” Pergram said.

The incident follows Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) sustaining injuries after falls in recent weeks.

McConnell fell during a Senate Republican lunch and sustained an injury to his face.
