Per USA TODAY:
It will mark the first time Trump has headlined a rally since his election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in November. Capital One Arena, home to the NBA’s Washington Wizards and NHL’s Washington Capitals, has a capacity of about 20,000 people.
A joint session of Congress will meet Jan. 6 to count the electoral votes certifying Trump’s victory four years after a mob of Trump supporters violently attacked the Capitol in protest of President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory against Trump. Biden has said he will attend Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration ceremony even though Trump skipped Biden’s inauguration in 2021.

FOX 5 DC reports:
In the wake of the New Orleans attack, officials say they now have a new ‘footprint’ to consider as part of the security planning that’s already underway, just 18 days from Inauguration Day.
The District will see a massive security force and steel fencing around the Capitol following the insurrection riot of 2021.
D.C.’s police chief says the District is ready.
“The Metropolitan Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and community members affected by the tragic events in New Orleans. We are actively working with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to share intelligence and provide support for the ongoing investigation,” the department said in a statement.
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and President-elect Donald Trump recently met to discuss collaborative ways to improve the nation’s capital during Trump’s second term.
“I am optimistic that we will continue to find common ground with the President during his second term, and we look forward to supporting a successful inauguration on January 20,” she said.
