Active-Duty U.S. Army Soldier Identified As Suspect In Las Vegas Cybertruck Explosion, Reports Say


Authorities have identified Matthew Livelsberger, an active-duty U.S. Army soldier, as the suspect in the cybertruck explosion outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas.

“A US Army spokesperson confirms to @FoxNews that the suspect in the Las Vegas truck explosion, Matthew Livelsberger, was an active duty Special Forces Operations sergeant who was on leave from Germany where he was serving w/ the 10th Special Forces Group,” Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin said.

CNN also reported that Livelsberger was an active-duty U.S. Special Forces (Green Beret) soldier assigned to 10th Special Forces Group and was on leave from Germany.

The person who authorities believe died in the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck packed with firework mortars and camp fuel canisters outside President-elect Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel was an active-duty U.S. Army soldier, three U.S. officials told The Associated Press on Thursday.

Two law enforcement officials identified the man inside the futuristic-looking pickup truck as Matthew Livelsberger. The law enforcement officials spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation.

Three U.S. officials said Livelsberger was an active-duty Army member, who spent time at the base formerly known as Fort Bragg, a massive Army base in North Carolina that is home to Army special forces command. The officials also spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to disclose details of his service.

KTNV Las Vegas reports:

New details on the suspect involved in the fatal Cybertruck explosion at the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas are emerging following federal search operations in Colorado Springs.

On New Year’s Day, it was revealed the now-deceased suspect had rented the Tesla Cybertruck in Colorado via the Turo app.

Investigators have identified the suspect as 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, who had multiple addresses associated with him in Colorado Springs.

FBI investigators are at one of Livelsberger’s townhome residences. ATF has been brought in to assist.
