‘Utter Nonsense’: NBC Blasted For Glaring Omission From NFL Great’s Uniform

The NFL has drawn widespread criticism in recent years for its embrace of a far-left “woke” agenda, and one team in particular courted controversy by replacing the name and logo that had been synonymous with the franchise for generations.

When the Washington Redskins were rebranded as the Commanders, the team and league did their best to erase any evidence of the former mascot. This week, NBC appeared to do the same, attracting some backlash of its own in the process.

As the Daily Caller‘s Andrew Powell explained, the network used a graphic to commemorate quarterback Jayden Daniels’ record-setting season:

But something was missing from the graphic, and fans noticed immediately. NBC had blatantly cut out the logo of the Washington Redskins, who Griffin played for.

I was never a fan of the Commanders rebranding from the Redskins, but I get why they eventually made the move because, let’s be honest here, money speaks loudly. But what I don’t understand is, why can’t we at least show the logos and fonts that RGIII played for? Why do we have to erase history altogether?

It’s utter nonsense, especially when you consider the Commanders had one of the most legendary sports brands of all-time when they were the ‘Skins.

Powell wasn’t the only one who noticed:

Although leftists insisted that the name change was needed in response to the supposed racism of the Redskins moniker, many of those who would have theoretically been offended by it are instead calling for it to be restored.

According to NewsNation:

Relatives of the man John Two Guns White Calf, whose profile served as the face of the Washington, D.C., professional football team for 48 years, wants his likeness returned to the franchise.

Thomas White Calf, a great nephew of the late Blackfeet Nation chief, told Fox News, “The fans want him back and we want him back.”

The team changed its name in 2020 following complaints over the term “Redskins,” which has historically held a negative connotation for indigenous peoples in North America.

“Our ancestor was the most famous and most photographed native in history,” Thomas said in the interview. “Two Guns was also the face on the Indian head nickel. I’m proud of him. The Blackfeet are proud of him.”

Here’s some coverage of the team’s initial decision to drop its iconic name:
