Trudeau Facing Ouster, Representatives Sent to Mar-A-Lago as Canadian Statehood Gains Popularity

It has been a month since President Trump initially trolled Justin Trudeau about the U.S.-Canadian trade deficit, and possible Canadian statehood.

In the meantime, Trudeau has faced the most serious threat to his political future following his high profile meeting with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

With ongoing calls for him to step down as Prime Minister, Trudeau has publicly ignored those increasingly loud calls from within Canadian political circles.

Instead, he posted this Christmas message, which seems more like something from the Hunger Games Capital than anything heartfelt and genuine.

Now, Trudeau has sent two of his most important Ministers — the Canadian Finance Minister and Foreign Minister — back to Mar-a-Lago for economic discussions.

It seems as the “Trump Effect” is in full swing, and Trudeau is feeling the heat!

Check out this report from Fox News:

Although that Fox News report made it sound like Canada is attempting to avoid becoming the 51st American state with the most recent Mar-a-Lago talks, that may not be entirely true.

According to “Mr. Wonderful” Kevin O’Leary, at least half of Canadians are actually excited about the idea of some type of merger with the United States.

By all accounts, the two Canadian Ministers were sent to Mar-a-Lago not to negotiate statehood, but to hash out the details of border security and economic ties.

Here’s a report in Politico with more detail on that:

Two top ministers for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are in Florida to discuss border security with the incoming Trump administration, as the president-elect threatens to slap tariffs on all Canadian products.

Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc and Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly arrived Thursday in Palm Beach, said Jean-Sébastien Comeau, a spokesperson for LeBlanc. They met with Commerce Secretary nominee Howard Lutnick and Interior Department nominee Doug Burgum, as a follow-up to the dinner between the prime minister and Trump last month, a readout from LeBlanc’s office said.

“Both Ministers outlined the measures in Canada’s Border Plan and reiterated the shared commitment to strengthen border security as well as combat the harm caused by fentanyl to save Canadian and American lives,” the readout said.

“During their conversations, Lutnick and Burgum took note of the updates provided by both Ministers and agreed to relay information to President Trump.”

The ministers agreed to continue further discussions in the coming weeks, LeBlanc’s office said.

Nevertheless, the Canadian “statehood” talk since President Trump’s jab at Trudeau has actually caught steam.

As previously stated, Canadian Kevin O’Leary alleges over half of the Canadian population would welcome some type of merger with the United States.

Here he is discussing his plans to push the topic himself with President Trump!

What O’Leary is talking about isn’t exactly statehood, but a far more intimate relationship of some kind between both nations.

And apparently, he is planning on taking up the issue personally with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago… because he doesn’t want Trudeau involved in the discussion!

Could it be that President Trump’s jabs at Trudeau were intended all along to bring the Canadians to the negotiating table on tariffs without having to wage economic war first?

That is very possible.

The primary discussion between the Canadian Ministers and President Trump’s Commerce and Interior Secretary picks was in fact about his proposed tariffs, according to a report by NBC News:

A spokesperson for the Canadian Finance Ministry said the meeting was “positive” and “productive,” and served as a follow-up to Trump and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s dinner last month after Trump threatened to impose a 25% tariff on Canadian goods.

“Both Ministers outlined the measures in Canada’s Border Plan and reiterated the shared commitment to strengthen border security as well as combat the harm caused by fentanyl to save Canadian and American lives,” said spokesperson Jean-Sébastien Comeau in a statement.

The meeting did not appear to change things on the tariffs front, though Lutnick and Burgum agreed to “relay information” to Trump, according to Comeau.

While there is little chance in my mind that the 51st State of Canada will manifest into reality, there is obviously something of a restructuring going on geopolitically in response to Chinese and Russian aggression.

I wouldn’t be surprised if an “up-armored” security alliance, coupled with stronger economic ties, came out of these current talks.

It also wouldn’t surprise me if Trudeau is willing to jump through whatever hoop President Trump demands in hopes of retaining his power — if he thinks that is still possible.

This is a developing story.  We will bring you updates as information becomes available.
