It would be strange if either Biden or President Trump failed to remark on the death of former President Jimmy Carter.
But it would have been a lot more classy if the current White House occupant didn’t use it as an opportunity to attack the new President.
You read that right — Biden used the death of Jimmy Carter to take a cheap shot at President Trump.
Seeing is believing, so watch the clip here!
Biden was addressing the nation on Sunday when he responded to a reporter’s question.
Admittedly, the reporter baited Biden with a very leading question.
But still — the President of the United States should be able to temper his response to fit the occasion. And the death of a former President is certainly not the right occasion to go after your political rival.
Biden shared what he said was his fondest memory of Carter, before throwing shade at President Trump, according to a Fox News story:
Biden said his fondest memory of Carter happened in the 1970s when the then-Georgia governor asked Biden for help with his presidential campaign.
“He grabbed me by the arm and said, ‘I need you to help with my campaign,'” Biden recalled. “I said, ‘I’ve only been around a couple of years, Mr. Governor.’ He said, ‘No, it’ll make a difference.'”
“I said, ‘I’m not sure it will,” Biden added. “When I endorsed him for president, I told him why [I] was endorsing him and that it was not only his policies but his character, his decency, the honor he communicated to everyone.”
That was when a reporter asked Biden what lesson President Trump should take from Carter.
Biden answered with one word, repeated three times; “Decency, decency, decency”.
President Joe Biden said Donald Trump should learn a lesson from the late former president Jimmy Carter.
“Is there (anything) President Trump could take from President Carter?”
“Decency. Decency. Decency."

Independent journalist Kyle Becker shared the following commentary, shared below in full for easier reading:
President Joe Biden said Donald Trump should learn a lesson from the late former president Jimmy Carter.
“Is there (anything) President Trump could take from President Carter?”
ADVERTISEMENT“Decency. Decency. Decency.”
Biden’s lesson for Trump would be better taken if he could even remotely follow his own advice.
Joe Biden is a notorious race-baiter who has said “you ain’t black” if you don’t vote for him. He warned about a budget proposal that the Republicans would put black Americans “back in chains.”
There are numerous other examples of Joe Biden lying about his political opponents, such as claiming falsely that Donald Trump called white supremacists “very fine people” — a vicious and divisive lie.
Over the holiday break, pictures were released from the National Archives showing he lied brazenly to the American people when he said that he never had anything to do with his son Hunter Biden’s business.
The photos showed Joe Biden introducing his son to the Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as a number of Hunter Biden’s Chinese business associates.
Biden has been a petty and vengeful president.
His administration has overseen government-sponsored censorship against those who disagree with the Democratic Party.
ADVERTISEMENTHis justice department has relentlessly persecuted peaceful J6 protesters, even violating their constitutional rights in the process.
And the Biden administration repeatedly interfered in the election with the selective and vindictive prosecution of his campaign opponent, Donald J. Trump.
If there ever was a presidency in need of “decency,” it is the Biden presidency.
I have to agree with Becker; any President who would use the death of a former President to lash out at the incoming President definitely doesn’t understand decency.
Biden’s jab came after President Trump and JD Vance bother shared graceful condolences upon finding out about Carter’s death.

President Trump even added a later statement, highlighting his philosophical and political differences with Carter — yet, still found it possible to respond with the dignity befitting a President.
Here is the full text of President Trump’s second statement for easier viewing:
President Jimmy Carter is dead at 100 years of age. While I strongly disagreed with him philosophically and politically, I also realized that he truly loved and respected our Country, and all it stands for. He worked hard to make America a better place, and for that I give him my highest respect. He was a truly good man and, of course, will be greatly missed. He was also very consequential, far more than most Presidents, after he left the Oval Office. Warmest condolences from Melania and I to his wonderful family!
What is more, Biden seemed to insinuate that President Trump is prone to ignore the obvious needs of others, in contrast to Carter.
And then — for a third time, if my math is right — Biden took ANOTHER swipe at President Trump, this time for his boldness and willingness to call a spade a spade!
Here’s the Daily Beast with those highlights:
The president went on to draw a stark contrast between the gentleman farmer from Georgia and the often brash and abrasive Trump.
“Can you imagine Jimmy Carter walking by someone who needed something and just keep walking?” asked Biden, inferring that was something he perceived that Trump might do.
His next remark was even more pointed and was a clear reference to Trump hurling insults at him—he has at various times called him a “dummy” and a “loser” and nicknamed him “Sleepy Joe”—and at other political opponents.
“Can you imagine Jimmy Carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk? I can’t,” continued Biden.
Considering the completely fabricated statements Biden made about President Trump towards the end of the election, his willingness to use Carter’s death as a springboard for attack shouldn’t be a big surprise.
Nevertheless, you would think a man preaching “Decency, decency, decency” would at least know what the word meant.
But you would be wrong on that point as well, apparently.
