In-N-Out President Reveals ‘Absolutely Dangerous’ Reason For Oakland Restaurant Closure

California has long been a hotbed of far-left criminal justice policies, which citizens and business owners alike say have created a crime epidemic across the state.

For the president of one iconic West Coast fast food chain, the situation became so bad in Oakland that she decided to shut down the only location in operation there.

As In-N-Out Burger President Lynsi Snyder explained, per the Daily Wire:

“It was just absolutely dangerous. In, out of 365 days, I think 300 days there was some type of event,” Snyder told PragerU host Marissa Streit. The president cited burglaries, violence, fights, theft, and a stabbing, and said there was even an incident of gunshots fired through the store.

The president of the popular fast food chain also noted the lengthy wait time for police to show up when called. The city is notorious for slow 911 response times. Oakland 911 wait times were worse than any other city in the state, with an average wait time lasting three to four times longer than the state mandate, a 2023 NBC report found.

“It was huge,” Snyder said of the decision to shut down the store. “But, for the safety of our associates, we just felt like, this is not okay.”

California’s crime problem has been a constant topic of social media discussion in recent years:

The situation in Oakland has also forced other retailers to abandon locations, as CBS News reported earlier this year:

7-Eleven shuttered two Oakland stores on April 30, according to a source close to the company. Workers removed the corporate logos and boarded up storefronts at 4720 MacArthur Boulevard and 324 23rd Avenue. The source told CBS News Bay Area the closures were because of ongoing area crime.

As for the remaining 7-Eleven stores, managers said they were dealing with repeated robberies and burglaries.

The latest burglary happened Saturday before 5 a.m. at the Piedmont Avenue store in Oakland. Surveillance footage showed thieves backing up a stolen car to break into the front glass doors. Several people can then be seen entering the store to steal cigarettes. The owner of the store said they also used a crowbar to break open a back door to take more cigarettes stored in a separate room.

Here’s a clip of Snyder’s remarks on the topic:
