Former Congressman George Santos claimed on X that a member of the House of Representatives allegedly will receive a pardon and flip from blue to red.
“Who’s ready for some more tea on Capitol Hill? I have some interesting news coming your way tomorrow,” Santos said Wednesday.

On Thursday, Santos elaborated on the rumor.
The former New York representative speculated Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) is the Congress member who may receive a pardon and switch parties.
“It’s alleged someone is going to receive a pardon and flip from blue to red in the House of Representatives. Now I fully believe that this person has only gotten indicted because of his wide open criticism of the current admin and his opposition to Mayorkas and all things happening at the southern border. Now that being said, I personally support the pardon and the flip… very much like I supported Rep. Van Drew (R-NJ) when he flipped blue to red,” Santos said.
“The reality is simple, people change and they do so for a reason, it’s a moment of clarity when they realize they have been left behind by their team mates… In this case the Dems have radicalized in a way that is leaving center left leaning Dems abandoned… I’d like to say welcome to Henry Cuellar specially if the allegations are true,” he continued.
“As President Trump said it himself, Henry is a respected member of the house and has stood on the correct side of the boarder issue, for the most part. Good day everyone!” he added.

From the Justice Department:
An indictment was unsealed today in the Southern District of Texas charging U.S. Congressman Enrique Roberto “Henry” Cuellar, 68, and his wife, Imelda Cuellar, 67, both of Laredo, Texas, with participating in two schemes involving bribery, unlawful foreign influence, and money laundering. Congressman Cuellar and Imelda Cuellar made their initial court appearance today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Dena Palermo in Houston.
According to court documents, beginning in at least December 2014 and continuing through at least November 2021, Congressman Cuellar and Imelda Cuellar allegedly accepted approximately $600,000 in bribes from two foreign entities: an oil and gas company wholly owned and controlled by the Government of Azerbaijan, and a bank headquartered in Mexico City. The bribe payments were allegedly laundered, pursuant to sham consulting contracts, through a series of front companies and middlemen into shell companies owned by Imelda Cuellar, who performed little to no legitimate work under the contracts. In exchange for the bribes paid by the Azerbaijani oil and gas company, Congressman Cuellar allegedly agreed to use his office to influence U.S. foreign policy in favor of Azerbaijan. In exchange for the bribes paid by the Mexican bank, Congressman Cuellar allegedly agreed to influence legislative activity and to advise and pressure high-ranking U.S. Executive Branch officials regarding measures beneficial to the bank.
Congressman Cuellar and Imelda Cuellar are each charged with the following offenses, and if convicted, face maximum penalties as indicated: two counts of conspiracy to commit bribery of a federal official and to have a public official act as an agent of a foreign principal required to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), five years imprisonment on each count; two counts of bribery of a federal official, 15 years imprisonment on each count; two counts of conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud, 20 years imprisonment on each count; two counts of violating the ban on public officials acting as agents of a foreign principal required to register under FARA, two years imprisonment on each count; one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, 20 years imprisonment; and five counts of money laundering, 20 years imprisonment on each count.
Despite the indictment, Cuellar won re-election against Republican challenger Jay Furman.

Per The Hill:
Tuesday’s resolution demands Biden use executive authority to end “catch-and release,” expedite the removal of migrants from the country and make reforms to the asylum system. Biden has claimed that congressional action is required for any reforms to take place.
Earlier Tuesday, more than 20 House Democrats launched a border security task force, assigned to debating and lobbying for border security policy. A number of its members, including co-chair Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), also voted for the House measure criticizing Biden.
The Democrats who backed the bill were Reps. Yadiar Caraveo (Colo.), Angie Craig (Minn.), Cuellar, Sharice Davids (Kan.), Donald Davids (N.C.), Jared Golden (Maine), Steven Horsford (Nev.), Greg Landsman (Ohio), Susie Lee (Nev.), Jared Moskowitz (Fla.), Frank Mrvan (Ind.), Mary Peltola (Alaska), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.) and Eric Sorensen (Ill.).
