‘This Is An Embarrassment’: Tom Homan Points Out Fatal Flaw In The Latest Deportation Numbers

After campaigning and governing on an open-borders platform, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris attempted to redefine themselves as immigration hawks in a desperate bid to convince voters their administration deserved four more years.

One bit of data used to perpetrate that political sleight of hand maneuver was a report showing deportations had been on the rise in recent years. But former Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan, who was chosen to be President Donald Trump’s second-term border czar, had a major issue with the way those numbers were calculated.

As the Daily Caller reported:

While deportations began with a record low, they steadily ticked up throughout Biden’s time in office. There were roughly 72,000 removals in fiscal year 2022 and then 142,500 removals in fiscal year 2023.

However, Homan argued that the deportation numbers from fiscal year 2024 are largely a result of illegal migrants caught by Border Patrol and simply transferred over to ICE — not removals of illegal migrants caught by ICE agents in the interior of the country.

“Most of those were Border Patrol arrests, just processed by ERO [Enforcement and Removal Operations]. This wasn’t really ICE work, this was Border Patrol work,” Homan said to the DCNF.

“Interior arrests are way down, this is an embarrassment for them,” Homan explained.

The incoming border czar went on to say that, beginning next year, these numbers will look small when the Trump administration embarks on a wide-scale deportation operation that will heavily target criminals across the U.S. The incoming border czar also accused Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas of not sticking to his commitment of targeting criminal aliens.

The Biden administration’s perceived incompetence and/or corruption regarding the nation’s southern border has been a constant topic of social media discussion from the beginning.

Homan has also issued some clear warnings to specific officials he believes might attempt to stymie the Trump administration’s border crackdown.

As WPEC reported, he also took on New York Gov. Kathy Hochul in the wake of a horrific incident on the subway that was allegedly perpetrated by an undocumented migrant from Guatemala:

On Sunday, Gov. Hochul touted her New York City subway system safety initiatives in a post via X. Both the National Guard and New York City Police Department were involved in the effort to add cameras to subway cars and reduce crime, her office says.

Homan, however, condemned the timing of the post in the wake of a gruesome attack on a New York City subway train this weekend. An illegal Guatemalan migrant allegedly lit a sleeping passenger on fire, causing her to burn to death.

“Governor Hochul, shame on her,” Homan said. “She supported sanctuary status in that state. She welcomed thousands of illegal aliens to her state.”

“Governor Hochul, shame on you,” Homan added. “There’s nothing you can say that’s going to make this right in New York.”

Homan also had a clear warning for criminal immigrants currently living in communities across the country:
