Joe Biden received bipartisan criticism after commuting 37 of 40 federal death row sentences. His successor was among those who reacted with disapproval, issuing a statement outlining how he will handle such cases when his second term begins next month.
The Hill reported on the response from President Donald Trump and those in his inner orbit:
“As soon as I am inaugurated, I will direct the Justice Department to vigorously pursue the death penalty to protect American families and children from violent rapists, murderers, and monsters,” Trump said on Truth Social. “We will be a Nation of Law and Order again!”
