Elon Musk said on X that he would fund “moderate candidates” in deep-blue districts.
“Oh … forgot to mention that I’m also going to be funding moderate candidates in heavily Democrat districts, so that the country can get rid of those who don’t represent them,” Musk said.

Per The Hill:
The ally of President-elect Trump made the comments in response to a clip of a floor speech from Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.), the ranking member of the Ways and Means Committee, who slammed Musk’s threat to primary Republicans if they supported an earlier bipartisan spending proposal this week.
“Can you image what the next two years are going to be like if every time that Congress works its will and then there’s a tweet? Or from an individual who has no official portfolio, who threatens members on the Republican side with a primary and they succumb?” Neal said in a fiery floor speech Thursday night.
Musk, the co-leader of Trump’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) with Vivek Ramaswamy, fired off dozens of posts Wednesday ripping apart a stopgap spending measure that would have funded the government through March 14 and averted a government shutdown.

Business Insider reports:
In 2024, Musk’s super PAC spent more than $19 million in House races, backing Republican incumbents and candidates in competitive races across the country.
Ten of the candidates he supported were victorious, while eight lost.
Musk has said that America PAC will continue spending money in forthcoming election cycles, including the 2026 midterm elections and even local district attorney races.
Prior reports stated Musk threatened to fund primary opponents for House Republicans who didn’t support President Trump’s agenda.
“Elon Musk is threatening to fund pro-Trump primary challengers to House Republicans who don’t support Trump’s agenda, according to @lawindsor. Big, if true,” Collin Rugg wrote last month.
“The statement came after Elon Musk attended the House Republican conference this morning with Trump. Musk’s appearance came just hours after Trump appointed him and Vivek Ramaswamy to head the Department of Government Efficiency,” he added.

From the Associated Press:
A week after President-elect Donald Trump’s victory, Elon Musk said his political action committee would “play a significant role in primaries.”
The following week, the billionaire responded to a report that he might fund challengers to GOP House members who don’t support Trump’s nominees. “How else? There is no other way,” Musk wrote on X, which he rebranded after purchasing Twitter and moving to boost conservative voices, including his own.
And during his recent visit to Capitol Hill, Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy delivered a warning to Republicans who don’t go along with their plans to slash spending as part of Trump’s proposed Department of Government Efficiency.
“Elon and Vivek talked about having a naughty list and a nice list for members of Congress and senators and how we vote and how we’re spending the American people’s money,” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.
