The latest Big Tech company to turn to the MAGA side of things is Uber, along with its CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.
Uber and its CEO each contributed $1M to President Trump’s Inauguration.
To be clear, that’s a $1M donation from Uber as a company and a $1M personal donation from Khosrowshahi — $2M in total!
This is Dara Khosrowshahi biggest political donation ever.

Reuters reported:
Uber Technologies (UBER.N) and its CEO Dara Khosrowshahi each donated $1 million to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural fund, a company spokesperson told Reuters on Tuesday.
The ride-hailing firm joins a list of several large businesses that have sought to build a positive relationship with the incoming Trump administration after he won the election in November. The donations by Uber and Khosrowshahi were first reported by The Wall Street Journal earlier in the day.
News of Uber’s generous donation follows similar donations made by OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Meta (formerly Facebook) CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
The Washington Examiner noted:
Uber is following in the footsteps of a handful of tech companies flocking to Trump and mending strained relationships. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman donated $1 million to the fund last week. Altman had donated to President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign. Since then, Altman has been tapped by the Democratic mayor-elect of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie, as an adviser.
Amazon and Meta also contributed $1 million to open a relationship with the president-elect. Meta banned Trump from its Facebook and Instagram platforms for two years following the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol. Trump returned to the platforms in full force during his campaign.
It’s interesting to see how everyone suddenly wants a seat at President Trump’s table — many even literally, with Mark Zuckerbeg, Jeff Bezos, and Tim Cook all dining at Mar-a-Lago in recent days and weeks.
But, I have to wonder if there’s anything more to this…
Folks seem to be thinking along the same lines on X:
it seems like there's a new wave of support for Trump from big tech. It's clear that they're looking to influence the future administration. But with such hefty donations, one has to wonder about the implications for policy and regulation in the tech sector.
