FULL TRANSCRIPT:
[Pastor Rob Goodman]:
Good day to everyone, my name is Pastor Rob Goodman, and I am the lead senior pastor here at Zion Freedom Fellowship in the USA, in Maryland. Thank you so much for being with us today. I pray that this message will bless you and fill your heart to the fullness of His love. Oh, the love of Jesus! Oh, how sweet is His love! He loves you so much, He cares for you so deeply, and He wants you to know Him.
Today the message I’m going to share with you is about the Candlestick, or the menorah, that was in the Holy Place. And we’ll do a quick review as we usually do, because I’ve been teaching this message in a series, and we’ve got one more piece of furniture, which is the altar of incense, and then we go beyond the curtain into the Holy of Holies, where the presence of God actually dwelt in the Tabernacle of Moses.
So, praise be to God, let’s begin our message with prayer. Heavenly Father, we praise You and we thank You, Father, for the Word of God. Lord, You’ve given me this message to speak it loudly and clearly. Lord, I pray for accuracy of the knowledge of the scriptures. Lord, that You would reveal to me anything that You want me to speak to Your people.
Lord, Your destiny reigns in all of us. Lord, You have so much that You want to give unto us, Your people, and thank You, Father, that You will bring forth the treasures of Your knowledge in Jesus’ name. Lord, let the Word of God be quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, the joints and the marrow of the body, and is a discerner of the thoughts and the intents of our human heart.
Lord, expose anything in us that’s not of God so that we can become mature soldiers and sons of the Lord Jesus Christ. Father, have Your way, have Your way in the mighty name of Jesus with Your people today as we speak this message, in Jesus’ name, amen.
Let me turn down my phone because I had forgotten to do that. I don’t want to be interrupted as we are sharing this message. Okay, I’m going to share a few notes with you. All right, the Tabernacle of Moses and the golden candlestick holder.
This piece of furniture was opposite the table of showbread, and we talked about how the table of showbread was symbolic of the Word of God, and it pointed to Jesus Christ—His death, burial, and resurrection. It had the frankincense and myrrh on top of the showbread, and just a beautiful, beautiful subject and topic to study. So without the Word of God, as I’ve said this to my church members many times, we cannot live a godly, successful life. We have to stand upon the Word of God and allow the Word of God to penetrate the dark areas of our soulish nature.
That’s the part of us that really needs to be changed. You know, I’ve shared this many times: when you get born again, the Spirit of God just comes into your spirit, your heart of hearts, and the Spirit of God will reveal to you who you are in Christ Jesus and all the blessings that God has afforded to you by His Spirit.
We receive the power from on high, we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and we begin to have a wonderful knowledge of God’s Word. So, the piece of furniture was opposite the table of showbread. The golden lampstand did not have any measurements. The light and the glory cannot be measured, because it is eternal and it will never be extinguished.
Think about that. Can any man ever extinguish the glory of God? Can any man cause darkness, or the power of darkness, to overcome? No! Jesus has already overcome all darkness. He put darkness under His feet. Satan and the ruling demons of this earth are under the feet of Jesus, and He’s given you and me that power and that authority to reign in this light.
We reign in this life through Jesus Christ, and we are now kings and priests. We have kingly authority, and Jesus gave us that authority to go and preach the gospel, and the signs and wonders will follow the preaching of the Word. So it’s so important that we understand the Word of God, and the Lord will speak to many of you today and show you things that you may not have recognized before, or things that you may not have seen or understood in the past.
But now, the Lord wants to open up His bountiful treasure to you, and cause you to understand the riches of the glory of God. Oh, the glory of God is so rich! I’m not talking about earthly riches— yes, the Lord will provide that as well—but blessed be His name, He is mighty! He is mighty! He is mighty! He’s overcome death, hell, and the grave, and He now has the keys of hell, death, and the grave.
No man, no demonic spirit, Satan, will never be able to outdo Jesus Christ. He is a defeated foe, he is bound by the power of God. And when the millennial kingdom comes, you and I will reign with Christ for a thousand years on this earth. Now, I know that sounds almost impossible, and when we think about it, we have to go outside of this thing right here—this box up here, you know, it tries to dictate to us and tell us that this cannot be true, you know, that God’s Word isn’t true, and so on and so forth, and that’s all Satan wants to do. He wants to make you, cause you to be filled with unbelief.
Because without faith it’s impossible to please God. Without faith, you cannot please Him. It is completely and totally impossible. The lampstand burned by olive oil, which is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. You know, olive oil was… the olives were crushed and created this wonderful oil, and that’s what caused these candlesticks to burn. And we’re going to talk about each one of them, and what they symbolize, and what they actually mean.
The golden lampstand represents the seven Spirits of God. Now, what are the seven Spirits of God? We’re going to talk about them in particular right now. The Spirit of the Lord is number one. The Holy Spirit has anointed us to preach the gospel to others. Without the anointing to preach, we would be fruitless, and we would not be able to bring souls into the Kingdom of God.
Jesus actually quoted a verse in Luke chapter 4, and we’re going to actually go back to like verse 16, I think that’s where I’m going to start. Yes, Luke 4:16. If you can take a moment and turn there in your Bibles. God is so good, I’m telling you, He’s so awesome and so good. My wife makes the best coffee. So He came—He’s talking about Jesus here—so He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up.
Remember how people always said, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Well, the greatest thing, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, was born in Bethlehem, but was raised in Nazareth. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Then He closed the book and gave it back to the attendant, and then He sat down.
And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Wow! Can you imagine the horror that came upon those people, and even the so-called priests of that synagogue? I mean, He announced that He was Messiah. He did not hold back from them. He said, “This day this scripture is fulfilled right now, it is being fulfilled.”
So all bore witness to Him and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth, and they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?” Now see, this is where people started to get into their carnal minds. They started to get into their carnal thinking, and they would rationalize what He’s saying, you know, “This is Joseph’s son. We know Mary, His mother. He was raised in this area; everybody knew Him as a kid.”
And the thing of it is, Jesus never committed any sin whatsoever. He never committed any sin, He never committed any unrighteous act. He never had a crime or an attitude of hatred or unforgiveness. He was the love of God in person. Man, I’m telling you, I can’t wait to meet Jesus, even though I know Him in my heart, and I’ve seen visions and had revelations and things like that of Him and His wonderful working power in my life. But we need to understand who He really is and how He wants to change us.
And it’s God’s desire that you and I are molded into the image of Christ, that He changes us and makes us more and more like Him. Amen? Do you believe that? He said to them, “You will surely say this proverb to Me: ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country.’” Then He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country.”
“But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land. But to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.”
So all those who were in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, because He was the real McCoy. He wasn’t holding back. You know, the time of His revealing was at that day and that hour, when He stood up and said who He was. And rose up and thrust Him out of the city, and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him over the cliff. Can you imagine?
Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way. Can you imagine? That’s how much the people came against Him. Have you ever had your family members, or anyone in your family, literally turn against you because you’re a believer, and you’re recognizing who Jesus is, and He is calling you to serve Him in His Kingdom, and you begin to rise up and take on the character and the nature of Christ, and you begin speaking words to your family members, and they reject you?
I think we’ve all been through that in one way or another. But it is our job to walk in love to those that do not yet understand, to those that do not really know Jesus, until they are also enlightened and born again. That is the time that we are to plant seeds in hard and fallow ground. We break up the fallow ground, and we plant the seeds of life in their hearts, and the seed will spring forth and bring forth life—the eternal life of God.
You know, praise be to God, my wife and I, Pam, we’ve seen our family members come to know the Lord. They used to think we were loco, loco, you know, like we’re just whoa! And praise be to God, they all know Jesus now. My dad and mom are both in heaven. My dad had a really miraculous conversion to the Lord Jesus Christ a couple years before he died, and a friend of his that lived down in Virginia Beach—Roanoke, Virginia, I believe— and we took my dad—Brother Dan Finch and I took my dad—down there and dropped him off for a week.
And when I picked him up, he was a new man! And I was like, wow! You know, all the things that we prayed. Pam and I used to sit on benches in a park and different places that we would go and just speak out in faith, “Isn’t it nice to know that Dad and Mom really know the Lord?” The same thing happened with Pam’s parents. They both got saved and they’re in heaven today, and I am so very grateful for that because, you know what, God is not willing that any should perish, but all that would come to repentance and the acknowledgement of the Son of God—who He is.
That is what we are called to do. And yeah, we have to pay a price sometimes. We might be rejected, we might be mocked, we might be scorned, we might be cast out. But you know what? If we walk in love, God will show our family members the truth and draw them in unto Himself. That is just amazing, just absolutely, absolutely amazing.
Without the anointing, without the anointing to preach the gospel, our lives would not bring forth any fruit, and we would not be able to bring souls into the Kingdom of God. And we just read Luke 4:18. The second Spirit of God—now, the Spirit of the Lord also, I must say this, that was the center shaft in the candlestick. There was a center candlestick, and out of those, on the right side there were three, and on the left side there were three, and the oil burned in those lamps. I mean, it’s just quite fascinating when you think about it.
All right, number two is the Spirit of Wisdom. The Spirit of Wisdom anoints us to make the right decisions to carry out the Lord’s will. Wow, think about that. The Spirit of Wisdom anoints us to make the right decision to carry out the Lord’s will. Let’s go to 1 Kings chapter 3, and we’ll read verses 5 and onward. (CONTINUED IN NEXT PART)
PART 2 (CONTINUED IMMEDIATELY):
At Gibeon, the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said, “Ask! What shall I give unto you?” And Solomon said, “You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart. You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.”
“Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child. I do not know how to go out or come in, and Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted. Therefore, give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”
The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing of Him. Then God said to him, “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but you have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, behold, I have done according to your words. See, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall there be anyone like you arise after you.”
“And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days. So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.” Then Solomon awoke, and indeed it had been a dream.
And he came to Jerusalem and stood before the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord, offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants. That’s just amazing. Think about Solomon. Solomon asked for understanding and wisdom. He wasn’t asking for riches or long life or the life of his enemies; he wanted to know the Lord. That was the most important thing to him.
Now we also know later on that Solomon had backslidden and became very worldly, and married the Queen of Sheba and all those types of things. But praise be to God, God is so good, and He’s full of compassion and He’s full of love to those that honor His name.
The Lord spoke to Solomon and told him that He would give him anything that he asked. So Solomon asked for wisdom. The Lord gave him what he asked for. I want to share something about Pastor Bailey. Pastor Bailey was pastoring a church out west somewhere. The church was dealing with some problems, and he needed wisdom on how to deal with it. He was in the Spirit and saw a single candlestick pass before him.
He then went to L.A. to meet Kathryn Kuhlman in her hotel. She prayed over him and said one word, “Wisdom.” He was slain in the Spirit. That’s such a phenomenal story. I’d never known that about Pastor Bailey.
