A small plane crashed on a New York highway Thursday evening, killing one individual and injuring one other.
Both the deceased and injured individual were aboard the aircraft.
The incident occurred along Interstate-684 in Westchester County, New York, approximately 25 miles northeast of Manhattan.
According to New York State Police, two people were aboard the plane when it crashed onto the highway.

Video from the scene showed the damaged white plane against a guardrail in the center median, with emergency vehicles blocking all lanes of traffic.
ADVERTISEMENTThe Department of Environmental Conservation was on scene to clean up spilled aviation fuel, Gov. Kathy Hochul said.
“My heart goes out to the loved ones of those on board during this tragic incident, and I am praying for a safe recovery for the injured individual,” Hochul said in a statement.

Per CBS News:
The victim’s name was not released, and the condition of the second person aboard the plane was not immediately provided. There was no word of any injuries to anyone on the ground.
The National Transportation Safety Board says investigators will arrive on the scene to recover the aircraft.
According to FlightAware, the pilot took off from Linden Airport in New Jersey and was headed to Westchester County Airport, which is located about 1.5 miles from where it crashed.
FlightAware lists the owner of the plane as Altisky Leasing One LLC, of Smyrna, Tennessee.
New York State Police said the highway was closed on the northbound side at Exit 2, and on the southbound side at Exit 3, adding that local detours were in place. Both lanes of the highway reopened early Friday morning.
