Olympic Gold Medalist Draws A Line In The Sand Amid Debate About Trans Athletes

The ongoing cultural dispute regarding whether biological males should be allowed to compete against women and girls in gender-segregated sports has been raging for years.

Of course, those most directly impacted are the female athletes themselves, and a growing number have started speaking out publicly against the left’s effort to force them to share personal spaces or even lose lucrative opportunities to boys and men who identify as transgender.

Most recently, Team USA Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler Tamyra Mensah-Stock shared her thoughts on the matter, per Fox News:

While Mensah-Stock did not completely rule out the possibility of going up against a biological male in the WWE, she shot down the idea of competing against a man in freestyle wrestling.

“Well, I’ll just say this. I’ve wrestled plenty of guys in practice and I will only wrestle them in practice — because wrestling men is very, very difficult even when they are 20 pounds smaller than me,” she said. “So, like if they’re the same weight as me… I just keep it in practice.”

WWE officials confirmed in May that Mensah-Stock had signed a contract. She became an Olympic champion at the Tokyo Games in 2021 and became the first Black female to win gold in freestyle wrestling.

The debate has continued unabated on social media for quite a while:

Swimmer Riley Gaines has been among the most outspoken female athletes, despite being harassed and threatened by pro-trans activists.

She recently co-authored a New York Post piece urging likeminded activists against becoming complacent just because President Donald Trump was elected to serve another term, arguing:

This fight is not over until every person who knows that women’s sports are for females only is willing to stand up and say so, without fear of backlash.

We are the majority. But it doesn’t feel like it yet.

And Trump can only do so much to fix the radicals’ tricks.

Trump can rescind the Biden administration’s rewrite of Title IX and restore women’s and girls’ sex-based rights in the education system.

But many sports teams and organization are beyond the reach of Title IX.

The US Olympic movement reports to Congress but receives the majority of its funding from private companies and takes its direction from corporate America.

Private club sports, often the feeders of athletes into the Olympic system, take their lead from it.

The International Olympic Committee, also funded privately, sets its own rules. And as we saw at the Paris Olympics, the IOC is just fine with males beating women up in the boxing ring and awarding them gold medals for it.

Here’s a recap of the events that led to Gaines becoming a nationally recognized figure:
