While the Kamala Harris campaign doled out big bucks to Hollywood stars to make appearances on her behalf and deliver formulaic endorsements, the entertainers who supported President Donald Trump this year did so at the potential expense of their livelihoods.
One actor, “Shazam!” star Zachary Levi, acknowledged prior to Election Day that many of his Tinsel Town colleagues were too afraid to express their actual opinions. But he defied the status quo by enthusiastically endorsing Trump, and now he’s optimistic that the decision won’t derail his career.
Levi recently discussed the issue in an podcast interview with comedian Bill Maher, as Fox News reported:
He said during the Trump years, “Our border was more secure, our economy was more secure, crimes rates were down.”
Levi also pushed back when Maher assumed he had been canceled and lost jobs for his Trump endorsement, saying it doesn’t appear to have impacted his career.
“I mean, listen, I have yet to see what the ultimate effects of all that are going to be,” Levi told the talk show host. “I already had multiple jobs that I was in the process of shooting or that I have yet to shoot and none of those have been compromised.
“All of those-like, none of my producers or any of the studios behind those films or projects have called and said, ‘Hey, listen, this is a line too far and we can’t have you associated with the project anymore.’ We’re all still full steam ahead on those,” he said.
“How it ultimately, like, plays out in the future, I don’t know.”

Celebrity endorsements on both sides of the aisle attracted significant social media attention this election cycle:

Levi officially endorsed Trump in late September, as Variety reported at the time:
“We’re here to make sure that we are going to take back this country. We are going to make it great again. We are going to make it healthy again,” Levi said on stage. “And so, I stand with Bobby, and I stand with Tulsi, and I stand with everyone else who is standing with President Trump. Because I do believe, of the two choices that we have, and we only have two, Donald Trump, President Trump is the man that can get us there. And he’s gonna get us there because he’s gonna have the backing and the support and the wisdom and the knowledge and the fight that exists in Robert Kennedy Jr. and former representative Tulsi Gabbard.”
In his speech, the actor discussed his background as a factor of his decision. “I grew up in a family that was Christian conservative, that was pretty much the lane that we were in,” he said. “My parents were Kennedy Democrats who then turned into Reagan Republicans, and they taught me to have a healthy level of distrust for the government and a healthy level of distrust for industry that runs amok.”
