President Trump Trolls ‘Governor of Canada’ as Trudeau Says He’ll “Punch Back”

It has been more than a week since the high-profile dinner date attended by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.

Tariffs were the hot topic at the time, and they remain so.

President Trump hasn’t budged his stance — the Canadian border needs to be controlled, or else Trudeau can expect a 25% tariff across the board on all goods entering the United States from Canada.

But at the moment, the threat of a tariff war still looms somewhere in the distance.

The more immediate rising threat is the threat to Trudeau’s pride.

As you’ve surely heard, President Trump joked at the Mar-a-Lago dinner event that if Trudeau’s Canada couldn’t survive without robbing the U.S. by means of a massive trade deficit, maybe the U.S. should simply annex Canada.

Here’s the details of that interaction, if you missed it.

Of course, the President was gracious enough to allow Trudeau the chance to come onboard as Governor of the State of Canada — presumably after elections.

But President Trump’s trolling hadn’t yet reached it’s fullness, apparently.

Or else, he simply wasn’t finished having his fun at Trudeau’s expense.

In fact, shortly after that dinner President Trump hinted that he wasn’t through poking at Trudeau when he shared this on his Truth Social account!

That specific post caught the attention of The Telegraph which dropped a story highlighting President Trump’s hilarious jabs aimed Justin Trudeau’s direction shortly after their Mar-a-Lago meeting.

Donald Trump appeared to troll Justin Trudeau with a picture of himself posing with the Canadian flag after reportedly suggesting Canada could become a US state.

The picture, which Mr Trump posted on social media, seemingly shows the president-elect gazing out at the Rockies with the Canadian flag planted next to him, with the caption: “Oh Canada!”

It comes after he reportedly told Mr Trudeau, the Canadian prime minister, that his country could become the 51st US state if it could not stomach new tariffs.

Trudeau may have thought President Trump was finished laughing at his expense at that point, but social media has proven that entirely untrue.

The funniest part about Trump’s most recent jab at Trudeau is that it comes on the heels of the Canadian Prime Minister running his mouth about a plan to retaliate against the prospective tariffs!

Here’s that story from earlier today from the Wall Street Journal.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Ottawa would retaliate with its own set of tariffs should President-elect Donald Trump follow through on his pledge to slap a 25% levy on imports from Canada.

“We will, of course, as we did eight years ago, respond to unfair tariffs in a number of ways, and we’re still looking at the right ways to respond,” Trudeau said Monday at an event organized by the local chamber of commerce in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Late last month, Trump said he would impose a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico unless the countries did more to stem the flow of migrants and illegal drugs at the border into the U.S.

Here’s a clip of the moment Trudeau explained how he would “punch back” against President Trump’s tariffs, if they indeed became a reality.

I have a feeling the Canadian PM didn’t realize he was inviting more social media ridicule from President Trump at the time he was being interviewed!

If the threat of slapping tariffs on Harley’s, decks of cards, and ketchup wasn’t funny enough, President Trump put the icing on the cake in his response later in the day.

At some point, Trudeau might recognize that every time he opens his mouth and says something against President Trump, he’s inviting ridicule.

But it wasn’t this day.  Today, Trudeau opened his mouth and inserted his foot — with ample help from President Trump for his trouble.

Just hours after Trudeau made those comments, this is what President Trump posted on social media — once again insinuating Canada become the 51st U.S. state!

The ensuing debate on social media including those who thought President Trump simply slipped up and mistakenly called Trudeau “Governor” is completely laughable.

There is zero chance President Trump “slipped up” or called Trudeau the “Governor of the Great State of Canada” on accident.

That was no mistake; that was epic trolling on a GRAND SCALE!

That said, Jesse Watters has chimed in with some seriously valid points for why making Canada — not the 51st state, but the 51st and 52nd state — is a tremendously good idea!

I particularly think the bump that such a move would give us in the Winter Olympics is enough to keep the option on the table.

Though Trudeau will continue to put on a happy face and pretend to be unrattled by President Trump’s incessant ridicule — you can bet in private, Mr. Trudeau is feeling the sting.

And if you’re wondering what the chances are that the Canadian PM raises the issue of President Trump’s promised tariffs again, complaining about the stance Trump is taking, I can assure you that those chances are dropping dramatically with every reminder courtesy of Trump’s stinging zingers.

If there’s one thing a tyrant hates, it’s being ridiculed.

The argument could be made that President Trump is being childish; almost immature in his dealings with Justin Trudeau.

That argument would be wrong.  President Trump isn’t being childish… but he certainly has Trudeau’s number, and he knows how to handle a bully and a tyrant.

It almost makes me hopeful that Trudeau will go on television again and whine a little more about President Trump’s border ultimatum — just to find out what masterful trolling move Trump will make next!
