JUST IN: LAPD Helicopter Has Crashed, Emergency Crews On Scene

A Los Angeles Police Department helicopter has reportedly crashed.

According to social media reports, the crash may have occurred during a training exercise.

Two LAPD Officers reportedly sustained minor injuries according to local news reports.

There are no reported fatalities according to a breaking news report by local KTLA news in Los Angeles.

Two Los Angeles Police Department officers sustained minor injuries in a helicopter training accident on Tuesday.

The LAPD aircraft was conducting a training exercise out of the Los Alamitos facility, located in the 4000 block of Doolittle Avenue, at about 1 p.m. when it “experienced a mechanical failure,” said Officer Terzes.

The chopper made a hard landing with two aboard, though both officers were only minorly injured and were not taken to the hospital.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.

According to current information, the incident is being blamed on a “mechanical failure”.

With a rash of what is being described as “drones” of unknown origin and intent swarming the skies in various cities, including reports from Los Angeles, questions will surely arise as to any involvement.

At the moment the crash seems to be just what has been reported — a training incident, unrelated to the “drone” activity.

This is a developing story and we will bring you more updates if they become available.
