Mayor Adams Defends Daniel Penny

Democrat Mayor Eric Adams continues to turn heads, almost on a daily basis now.

The latest?

He stepped in today to defend Daniel Penny against this horrendous prosecution that should have never been brought in the first place!

Here was an update on the jury deliberations from a few hours ago:

But now we go to Mayor Adams who has spoken out to defend Penny and slam the media:

Adams continued saying "You have someone on the subway who was responding, doing what we should have done."

He's 100% right:

Here is more, from The Daily Wire:

New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams strongly defended 26-year-old former U.S. Marine Daniel Penny, who’s been charged in the death of Jordan Neely.

Penny restrained Neely, a troubled man with a lengthy criminal record and a history of mental health issues, after Neely allegedly threatened passengers on a subway last year.

“We’re now on the subway where we’re hearing someone talking about hurting people, killing people,” Adams said, referring to Neely’s alleged threatening behavior. “You have someone [Penny] on that subway who was responding, doing what we should have done as a city.”

“Those passengers were afraid,” Adams emphasized, speaking to former New York gubernatorial candidate and radio host Rob Astorino.

The mayor also referenced the mental health crisis in NYC. “Then you look at the complete failure of our mental health system, a complete failure from the days of closing psychiatric wards and having those who needed help just turned over into the street without giving any safety net to accept them.”

In 2022, Adams faced criticism from the far-Left when he announced a plan to hospitalize some severely mentally ill people involuntarily, noting the city’s “moral obligation to act.”

Adams also accused the media of downplaying Neely’s alleged threatening behavior by promoting photos of a youthful Neely working as a Michael Jackson impersonator.

“Look at the photo that they used to show the victim,” Adams said, “It seemed like it was a young innocent child who was brutally murdered, and it gave that impression when you look at the photo that was being used. It wanted to set up in the minds of people that we were dealing with a young innocent child that was, you know, just a Michael Jackson [impersonator].”

In a related report, Adams is even teasing rejoining the Republican Party:

Bet you didn't see that coming!

Actually, join is not the right word....REJOIN is the proper word, which I bet you also didn't see that coming unless you are very familiar with his career.

Turns out he was a Republican from 1997-2001 although some reports say 1995:

This comes on the heels of many right-leaning actions he's taken recently, like saying he will be WORKING WITH, and not WARRING AGAINST, President Trump and Border Czar Tom Homan.

Here are more details on his very unconventional political history:

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a well-known Democrat, has a political history that includes a surprising twist—he was once a registered Republican. Adams, who has often positioned himself as a pragmatic centrist, made the party switch in the early 1990s. This chapter in his political career reflects the complex and evolving nature of his public life.

Adams registered as a Republican in 1995, during a time when he was a rising star in the New York Police Department. He later explained his decision as a protest against the Democratic Party's policies at the time, which he felt were not adequately addressing issues like crime and public safety. His Republican affiliation lasted for seven years, ending in 2002, when he re-registered as a Democrat.

As a police officer and later the co-founder of 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care, Adams frequently spoke out against racism within the NYPD and advocated for criminal justice reform. Despite his Republican registration, his advocacy often aligned more closely with progressive ideals. Adams has since described his time as a Republican as a strategic move, emphasizing his long-standing commitment to issues like social equity and public safety.

Adams' return to the Democratic Party marked the beginning of his rise in elected office. He served as a state senator, Brooklyn Borough President, and ultimately became New York City's second Black mayor in 2022. His history as a Republican has occasionally been highlighted by critics and political opponents, but Adams frames it as evidence of his willingness to challenge the status quo.

In interviews, Adams has said that his brief stint as a Republican taught him the importance of listening to diverse perspectives. “I’ve always been about finding solutions, no matter what party they come from,” he has stated. This approach continues to define his leadership style as he tackles some of New York City’s most pressing challenges.

While Adams’ political journey may seem unconventional, it underscores his focus on results over ideology—a trait that has both earned him praise and sparked controversy during his tenure as mayor.

But is it genuine?

Some suggest he's just angling for a Presidential Pardon:

NYC Mayor Adams: "I made it clear I'm not going to be WARRING with this Administration, I'm going to be WORKING with this Administration."

New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams shared he would love to sit down with Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, to discuss deporting immigrant criminals.

QUOTE: "I made it clear I'm not going to be WARRING with this Administration, I'm going to be WORKING with this Administration."

Wow!

Take a look:

Adams continued: “My position is people who commit crimes in our city, you have abdicated your right to be in our city and I am open to figure out the best way to address that."

He says cancel him all you want, he doesn't care: "Cancel me because I'm going to protect the people of this city."

"Those who are here committing crimes, robberies, sh**ting at police officers, r*ping innocent people have been a harm to our country," added Adams.

Watch him say it here:

Here's what The New York Post reported:

Commit a crime, get deported before doing the time.

Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday that he’s open to deporting migrants from New York City who have been charged with crimes — a shift from his past stance of waiting for convictions before shipping off immigrant criminals.

Adams said he soon plans to meet with President-elect Donald Trump’s new “border czar” Tom Homan on the incoming administration’s plans to potentially deport accused migrant criminals.

“My position is people who commit crimes in our city, you have abdicated your right to be in our city and I am open to figure out the best way to address that,” he said.

Per ABC 7 NY:

New York City Mayor Eric Adams long hampered by the Biden administration's immigration policy said on Tuesday that he has requested a meeting with incoming border czar Tom Homan.

"I would love to sit down with the border czar and hear his thoughts on how we are going to address those who are harming our citizens," Adams said during a news conference. "Find out what his plans are, where our common grounds are. We can work together."

Homan has said that he is planning to meet with Adams, who says he wants an open dialogue with the new administration.

"I don't want people talking at each other. I want people to talk to each other. I made it clear that I'm not going to be warring with this administration. I'm going to be working with this administration," he said.

Adams has for months been calling for violent migrants to be deported and seemed to welcome the Trump administration's differing philosophy.

It looks like these two may end up working well together to clean up NYC.

After all, President Trump predicted over a year ago that the Far-Left would turn on Adams and so they did:
