A new photo of the suspected gunman who killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Wednesday has been released by New York authorities.

The new photo captured by surveillance video shows the suspected gunman unmasked and smiling.

The suspected gunman wanted in the broad daylight slaying of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is seen smiling in new surveillance images released by the New York City Police Department on Thursday.

The unknown man’s face is shown for the first time in the two new images the NYPD released as the manhunt continues for a second day.

“With these new photos, if indeed they are the shooter, it is now only a matter of time,” Fox News crime analysis contributor Paul Mauro told Fox News Digital. “Facial recognition and other technologies have come a long way, and my understanding is that the police have been making progress on other fronts in this case. It is truer than ever that you can’t get away with murder these days. The detectives will get whoever is behind this, and soon.”

New evidence also suggests that the suspect who killed Thompson on Wednesday may have left a message behind on the bullet casings at the scene.

Photographs showing the face of the suspect who fatally shot UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in midtown Manhattan have been released as New York City cops continue to search for the identity of the alleged killer.

On Thursday, the NYPD shared two photographs of the killer, including one with the suspect flashing a smile.

“Below are photos of a person of interest wanted for questioning regarding the Midtown Manhattan homicide on Dec. 4.” the NYPD said in a statement. “This does not appear to be a random act of violence; all indications are that it was a premeditated, targeted attack.”

A full investigation was underway with the NYPD offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the suspect. The gunman’s motive, however, still remains a mystery.
