An earthquake registering at a 7.0 magnitude reportedly erupted just off of the U.S. West Coast on Thursday.
Early reports indicated that the tremor was serious enough to trigger a tsunami warning, per CBS News:
A large earthquake struck off the coast of Humboldt County on Thursday morning, prompting a tsunami warning for part of the North Coast.
According to the US Geological Survey, the quake struck around 10:44 a.m., west of Petrolia, California in the Pacific Ocean. A Tsunami Warning has been issued for 45 miles southwest of Eureka.

NBC’s Bay Area affiliate has been providing consistent updates of the situation:
BART shut down service through the Transbay Tube on Thursday after a series of strong earthquakes struck in Northern California and were felt in the Bay Area.
The stoppage caused a major delay systemwide in all directions, BART said.
