Audio Released Of White House Press Secretary Explaining Biden’s Pardon Of Son Hunter

Audio has been released of White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre explaining the reasoning behind Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter.

In the audio, a reporter asked if the White House lied about Biden’s intention of pardoning Hunter.

KJP responded, “First of all, one of the things that the president always believes is to be truthful to the American people. That is something that he always truly believes.”

She added, “And if you see the end of his, I assume that you’ve read his statement, and you look at the end of that statement, and he actually says that in the first line in the last paragraph. And respects the thinking and how the American people will actually see this in his decision making.”

Listen here:

Per Red State:

Joe Biden announced he was granting his son a pardon on Sunday that would cover anything he did that might qualify as a federal crime for the last 11 years — from Jan. 1, 2014, to Dec. 1, 2024.

In some measure, it tells you in Biden’s mind that he had something to be concerned about beyond the crimes that Hunter pled guilty to or was convicted of. Not to mention, it wasn’t just about Hunter; Joe was likely hoping it ended the inquiry into the allegations that could involve him. That’s what made the pardon doubly disturbing.

On top of that, Joe Biden dropped the news on a holiday weekend, right before he was flying out of the country, likely hoping to get as little attention as possible. I think he failed at that. Then also, they wouldn’t have to answer up and justify his action publicly before the whole White House press corps at a Monday briefing at the WH because they were going to be out of the country, as Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich explained. How convenient.

Heinrich explained that White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre would answer questions on the plane, but you wouldn’t be able to see her being cornered.

Could those statements be seen as a lie, a reporter asked, given all they said before, and doesn’t that mean there’s a credibility problem?

Jean-Pierre insisted that “one of the things” Biden always believes “is to be truthful to the American people.” She asked people to read the statement Biden released where he said he believed in being truthful.

Unreal, he’s “truthful.” How do we know that? He says he is — as he lies to our faces. They really expect us to buy that.

She refused to answer if he had spoken with Hunter about it over the weekend, just insisting that Biden made the decision this weekend, not before.

Per Legal Insurrection:

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre couldn’t spin President Joe Biden pardoning his son Hunter for the press.

Unfortunately, but probably not a coincidence, Biden issued the pardon when he did because he jetted off to Africa early this morning. Reporters questioning KJP took place on Air Force One, which means it’s just audio and not a formal setting.

KJP confirmed Biden will issue more pardons and clemency before his term ends in January.

But did KJP and Biden lie to the American people for months when both said the president wouldn’t pardon Hunter? I guess not:

KJP: First of all, one of the things that the president always believes is to be truthful to the American people. That is something that he always truly believe. And if you see the end of his, I assume that you’ve read his statement, and you look at the end of that statement and he actually says that in the first line in the last paragraph. And respects the thinking and how the American people will actually see this in his decision making.

And I would encourage everyone to read it full. The president’s statement, I think he lays out his thought process. He lays out how he came to this decision. He came to this decision this weekend, so let’s be very clear about that. He says it himself. It’s in his voice. He said he came to this decision this weekend, and he said he wrestled with this because he believes in the justice dydtem, but he also believes that the war politics infected the process and led to a miscarriage of justice.
