Americans have become increasingly concerned about the safety of our food supply in recent years, particularly in light of the many recalls that have been announced across the industry lately.
Most recently, tons of meat products were recalled in by their distributor in a pair of recent decisions, as the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced.
According to the New York Post:
An infant was killed and at least 10 others were sickened by an outbreak of listeria food poisoning connected to ready-to-eat meat and poultry products, health officials announced Friday.
Yu Shang Food, Inc., of South Carolina, recalled more than 72,000 pounds of meat and poultry products tied to the outbreak, according to the US Agriculture Department.
The massive recall expands upon the roughly 4,600 pounds of food it recalled earlier this month.

The Hill provided additional details regarding the recent recall:
On Monday, the FSIS press release was updated to include an expanded product list with additional products that were being recalled. All items produced before Oct. 28, 2024, are subject to recall, which includes approximately 72,240 pounds of meat or poultry.
The products included in the recall bear the establishment number “P-46684” or “EST. M46684” inside the Agriculture Department’s mark of inspection, FSIS said.
FSIS said it discovered the problem on Oct. 21, 2024, during routine testing of finished product. Officials then confirmed the product was positive for Listeria monocytogenes, which was subsequently detected in additional testing and in environmental samples, FSIS said.
