An entire police department in South Carolina resigned from their duties on Thursday.
The former police chief of the McColl Police Department, Robert Hale McColl, claimed a “hostile work environment perpetuated by a specific Councilman” motivated the resignations.
Hale, in his resignation letter, shared, “After a period of long and difficult discussion and consideration, I have decided that I will accept a position more suited to prioritizing the responsibilities of my family life and the possibility of furthering my role as a leader on a larger scale.”
“For months, I have endured unwarranted and malicious behavior aimed at undermining my integrity and leadership,” added Hale.

Here’s what The Daily Caller reported:
A South Carolina town’s entire police force resigned, with the now-former police chief claiming a toxic work environment as the motivation for the resignations.
The once five-strong McColl Police Department (MPD) is now bereft of officers, former police chief Robert Hale indicated Thursday in a statement to clarify the situation.
ADVERTISEMENTHale tendered his resignation letter addressed to McColl Mayor George Garner and other administrators on Oct. 31. It was originally shared with Tonya Brown of WPDE News. “After a period of long and difficult discussion and consideration, I have decided that I will accept a position more suited to prioritizing the responsibilities of my family life and the possibility of furthering my role as a leader on a larger scale,” he wrote in the letter. His last day at work was Friday.
Hale thanked the town and the MPD for the opportunity provided to him but went on to imply professional difficulties. “Over the course of the past year and a half, I have been subjected to a multitude of problems and issue,” he wrote.

Per The Independent:
The entire police department of a small South Carolina town resigned en masse, leaving the area without its own dedicated police force.
Chief Bob Hale of the McColl Police Department announced his resignation on November 21 in a social media post, citing a “hostile work environment perpetuated by a specific Councilman.”
“For months, I have endured unwarranted and malicious behavior aimed at undermining my integrity and leadership,” Hale wrote. “These actions have not only affected me personally but have also created a toxic atmosphere that has hindered the department’s ability to function effectively.”
The town of McColl will be without a single police officer on duty, as the entire police force, including the chief, resigned last week. https://t.co/JuZ8rxA4Yk
