Democratic Mega-Donor Says Kamala Harris Should Be Disqualified Forever, Here’s Why

A Democratic mega-donor said Kamala Harris should be disqualified forever for the way her presidential campaign recklessly spent money during the 2024 election.

The Harris campaign spent over $1 billion, reportedly ending up $20 million in debt.

Mega-donor John Morgan told NewsNation’s “CUOMO” the campaign’s spending “disqualifies her forever.”

“I think this disqualifies her forever,” Morgan said.

“If you can’t run a campaign, you can’t run America,” he added.

“All of a sudden, everybody’s got the keys to the candy store, ad buyers, talent consultants. There’s 100 days to do it, and the money started pouring in,” Morgan said.

“She had all this money coming in. She had all these consultants, and if you don’t run the ads, you don’t get paid for the buy. They were running ads in Florida, where I live, nonstop. And I’m like, why? I mean, are they running in Alabama and Idaho, too? And I’ll tell you why. If you don’t run the ads, the buyer doesn’t get paid,” Morgan explained.

“I was at the White House for a dinner Friday night. Talking to a lot of people and I’m telling you man, there’s a lot of whisper, there is a lot of names about who got paid this, who got paid that,” he continued.

“A lot of people got rich on the back of donors trying to stop Trump, and I think this disqualifies her forever,” he added.

“I told everybody, she should not have been the nominee. She was not going to win, and she didn’t win, and she lost badly,” he said.

“She’s having a call with donors this week, and they tell me about her political future. I don’t think she has a political future. So that’s my thought on her,” he noted.

The Hill reports:

Lindy Li, a member of the DNC finance committee, told NewsNation’s Rich McHugh that the internal strife and monetary confusion at the center of the party have led some staffers to leave altogether.

The money, Harris’ campaign says, is not an issue.

“As of Election Day, there were no outstanding debts or bills overdue and there will be no debt on either the DNC or HFP report for post general report,” Patrick Stauffer, Harris campaign’s chief financial officer, told The Hill.

Morgan told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo in July that he wouldn’t fundraise for Harris after her entrance to the presidential race, calling himself a “Joe Biden-Democrat” and identifying as an independent.

Despite Morgan saying Harris should be disqualified forever, the Democratic presidential nominee reportedly is weighing a 2028 bid for the White House or 2026 run for California governor.

From the New York Post:

In her absence from the political limelight, Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly been instructing allies to keep her options open for a possible political comeback, spurring speculation about a 2026 California gubernatorial run or even a 2028 repeat bid for the presidency.

Harris, 60, has been adamant with her close confidants that she is “staying in the fight” and plans to mull over her political future with family during the holidays, five sources close to the VP told Politico.

“She doesn’t have to decide if she wants to run for something again in the next six months,” one former campaign aide told the outlet.

“The natural thing to do would be to set up some type of entity that would give her the opportunity to travel and give speeches and preserve her political relationships.”

Betting markets have mused that Harris could be viable in the 2028 presidential race, in which both parties are expected to have wide-open contests, though she is lagging behind other Dems such as former first lady Michelle Obama and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
