Celebrities far and wide made mostly hollow threats to leave the United States if President Donald Trump won the election, but they’re not the only ones who think a second Trump term is upsetting enough to abandon their home country.
Those with untreated Trump Derangement Syndrome who are still considering an international move to escape the MAGA movement might be in luck.
As The Hill reported:
A small rural village in Italy is offering homes for as little as $1.06 after the 2024 presidential election.
“Are you worned out by global politics? Looking to embrace a more balanced lifestyle while securing new opportunities? It’s time to start building your European escape in the stunning paradise of Sardinia,” the promotional website says.
The village of Ollolai on the island of Sardinia is working to increase their population size after decades of decline by attracting Americans seeking a new home.
“Of course, we can’t specifically mention the name of one U.S. president who just got elected, but we all know that he’s the one from whom many Americans want to get away from now and leave the country,” Mayor Francesco Columbo told CNN.
The offer sparked some snarky social media comments this week:

Sounds great, but all your neighbors will be brainwashed libs.

Sky News provided additional details about the program:
Ollolai authorities say a selection of houses for just over a dollar are available and that “many buyers” have already successfully renovated such properties.
Americans who don’t fancy a renovation project can also purchase a house that’s ready to move into, with these going for up to €100,000 (£83,000).
The village also promises expats will get help “finding contractors and navigating the necessary bureaucracy” as part of a fast-track procedure to get set up.
The exact state of the €1 “fixer-upper” properties is unclear as pictures haven’t yet been added to the site, though Ollolai promises these are coming soon.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Sardinia has attempted to boost its population by attracting foreigners:
