Sen. Joe Manchin Makes Post-Election Push To End America’s Two-Party System

After exiting the Democratic Party, moderate U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV) has become a vocal proponent of creating a third political party to challenge the nation’s partisan status quo.

Most recently, he sat down for an interview during which he explained his position on the matter in the context of the recent presidential election.

According to The Hill:

Manchin joined NewsNation’s Chris Stirewalt on Sunday for “The Hill Sunday,” where he argued that the Democratic Party and the Republican Party have a duopoly, and both of their business models right now are “spewing hatred and division.”

Manchin’s take on the nation’s political system has sparked considerable social media discussion:

Manchin further distanced himself from his former party by refusing to endorse Kamala Harris, as Fox News reported:

Democrat-defector Sen. Joe Manchin, I-W.Va., said he won’t endorse Vice President Harris in the presidential election after she revealed her support for doing away with the filibuster to pass abortion laws.

Harris, a former senator herself, told WisconsinPublic Radio (WPR) on Tuesday, “I think we should eliminate the filibuster for Roe.”

Manchin told Fox News, “I’m not endorsing her,” stressing the importance of the legislative threshold.

“I’ve been very, very, very clear on how strongly I believe that when you go down that slippery path, you don’t just do it for one issue,” he explained.

Here’s a clip of his most recent remarks on the topic:
