President Trump Reacts To Gov. Newsom’s Latest Plan To ‘Trump-Proof’ California

Far-left California Gov. Gavin Newsom has long been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, and he’s already taking steps he hopes will thwart the agenda of a second Trump term in his state.

That plan includes calling a special legislative session aimed at setting up roadblocks for policies that could be implemented under the next Trump administration.

As The Hill reported:

The special session, scheduled to begin on Dec. 2, will focus on strengthening California legal resources to safeguard fundamental rights, reproductive freedoms, climate action and immigrant families, according to the proclamation.

“The freedoms we hold dear in California are under attack — and we won’t sit idle,” Newsom, widely seen as a prospective Democratic candidate for the White House in 2028, said in a statement.

“California has faced this challenge before, and we know how to respond,” he continued. “We will do everything necessary to ensure Californians have the support and resources they need to thrive.”

The proclamation will be the first of several initiatives taken by Newsom, in partnership with the Legislature, to start “shoring up California’s defenses against an incoming federal administration that has threatened the state on multiple fronts,” according to the governor’s office.

The bad blood between Trump and Newsom has been widely documented in recent years:

Trump also responded to Newsom’s decision to call a special session.

As Breitbart reported:

President-elect Trump responded on his social media platform, Truth Social, accusing Newsom of “using the term ‘Trump-Proof’ as a way of stopping all of the GREAT things that can be done to ‘Make California Great Again’.”

Newsom may try to become the leader of the so-called “resistance” to Trump — a glorified and controversial term for “opposition” — but it may prove more difficult for him, given that Trump won a popular majority, and nearly 40% of the vote in California itself.

Newsom clashed frequently with the first Trump administration, often over issues such as immigration, water, high-speed rail, and wildfires, though Trump provided emergency assistance to the state when needed.

Here’s a video Newsom released explaining his latest decision:
