It’s Official: Republicans Will Control White House, Senate, AND House Of Representatives

The mandate voters handed President Donald Trump last week only became clearer when the 218th Republican seat in the House of Representatives was called.

That gave the GOP a majority in the chamber after the party had already secured control of the Senate.

As The Hill reported:

Republicans are projected to keep control of the House of Representatives, handing the party total control of Washington with President-elect Trump back in the White House in January.

Decision Desk HQ projected the House had won its 218th seat Monday, the number needed for a majority in the lower chamber.

The result is a major win for Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who skyrocketed up from obscurity to lead the House GOP not only legislatively, but also in a large role in its campaign infrastructure.

Republicans saved some of their most vulnerable incumbents, including Reps. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) and David Valadao (R-Calif.), while defeating several vulnerable Democratic incumbents. Pennsylvania state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R) unseated Rep. Susan Wild (D-Pa.), while businessman Rob Bresnahan defeated Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-Pa.).

NewsNation explained what the upcoming “unified government” could mean for Trump’s agenda:

A unified government often means more opportunities for productivity and streamlined decision-making when it comes to legislation. The party in power will be able to pass laws faster and more efficiently without challenge from the opposing party.

It would essentially neutralize the Democratic Party if Republicans control all three branches of government.

A unified Congress would give Trump major power for his political agenda, giving Republicans the power to advance Trump-backed legislation and nominees without trouble, The New York Times reported.
