“How Awkward Was That?” – Peter Doocy’s Hilarious Question Causes WH Press Secretary Epic Meltdown

Peter Doocy has long been a thorn in the side of White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, commonly referred to as KJP.  While KJP would obviously prefer a White House Press Pool that obediently colors within the lines it is given and avoids any attempt to dig beneath the surface veneer at what lies behind the scenes… Peter Doocy is more like that kid who throws the crayons at the teacher’s back while she’s writing on the chalk board at the front of the class.

Today, Peter Doocy apparently started off with a fresh box of crayons.  And his marksmanship was superb, consider how easily he riled up his befuddled Schoolmaster — er, I mean the White House Press Secretary.  Watch as Doocy, as usual, knows exactly how to hit the nerve he’s aiming for.

According to the Daily Caller, which covered the hilarious exchange, Jean-Pierre simply feigned ignorance as to what Doocy could possibly be referring to, as she often does.  But as usual, Doocy wasn’t going to let her off the hook that easily.

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy visibly irked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Tuesday as he asked “how awkward” a private lunch between President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris was one week after her loss to President-elect Donald Trump.

Biden and Harris met Tuesday afternoon for a private lunch exactly one week after her loss to Trump in the 2024 election. Doocy asked “how awkward” the meeting had been given that the results did not go as the White House had hoped.

“We know that today, a week after the election, President Biden and Vice President Harris had a private lunch. How awkward was that?” Doocy asked.

“I don’t even understand. Why would it be awkward?” Jean-Pierre asked. “Why would you characterize it as awkward? They have regular lunches, they meet and talk regularly. Why would you call it awkward?” (emphasis added.)

I honestly don’t know how the rest of the press corps stifled their laughter as well as they managed, though I heard quite a few giggles as he just blurted out what we’re all wondering.  Oh — to be a fly on the wall in a room when those folks are around each other.  I have to imagine either the sparks fly, or at the very least the simmering tension is palpable; as could clearly be seen when Jill Biden and Kamala sat next to each other during a Veterans Day event.

Maybe even better than the initial question and KJP’s immediate response… is Doocy’s follow-up attempt to clarify why there would be awkwardness, as Raw Story included in it’s cover of the incident.  KJP’s attempts to dismiss Doocy’s bold questions always seems to backfire on her; rather than allowing her to look like the grownup and Doocy a child, it tends to simply expose her even further as ignoring the obvious.

“I don’t even understand,” a surprised Jean-Pierre replied. “Why would it be awkward?”

“Because the President got squeezed out for her, and then she kept him at arm’s length, and then she lost, and now she’s back,” Doocy said.

While searching through the archives I found this gem from earlier days.  Remember when a certain democratic member of Congress pulled a fire alarm to temporarily stop voting, and Doocy almost got KJP to laugh? Almost…

Here’s the text of KJP’s final answer to Doocy’s attempts to draw out what we’re all thinking, according to the Daily Caller story I previously referenced.

“So there’s no weirdness about the way that things have unfolded?” Doocy asked.

“Did you see them together yesterday as well when they honored our veterans and were together during the day making sure that we didn’t forget the brave men and women that fought for this country,” Jean-Pierre replied. “Did you them together yesterday? Did you see the show of force together? This is … I’m not even gonna take the premise of this question. What I will say is the president and the vice president had lunch today, they’ve had lunch many times, they have — they communicate with each other regularly and had an opportunity to discuss the last 70 days or so of this administration, how important it is to get things done for the American people, and that’s their focus. That is genuinely their focus.”

It sounds to me like the White House is intent on doubling down on at least one false narrative regardless of Trump’s victory.  They would have us believe that all is supposedly rosy and wonderful in the White House between Joe, Jill, and Kamala.  And if you’ll buy thatI have some beachfront property in Northeast Texas I would love to sell you.
