After his historic Election Day victory, President Donald Trump continues to rake in wins a week later.
Most recently, his legal team chalked up a point in their favor when the judge overseeing a Manhattan trial that resulted in nearly three dozen convictions.
As Fox News reported:
Trump was convicted in May by a Manhattan jury on 34 counts of falsifying business records, stemming from a case about payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels.
Merchan agreed earlier this year to a four-month delay for the court proceedings, pushing next steps until after the 2024 presidential election.
He had set Nov. 12 as a self-imposed deadline to decide how best to proceed.
The decision comes after the Supreme Court said in a July 1 ruling that presidents should enjoy presumptive immunity from criminal prosecution for most actions taken as president.
News of the ruling sparked immediate reactions on social media:
Judge Merchan has delayed a key ruling on whether President-Elect Donald Trump's conviction in New York should be set aside.

Of course, Trump’s defense attorneys are hoping for more than just a delay, as The Hill explained:
Trump’s attorneys believe his election as president compels the dismissal of his criminal prosecutions.
“The stay, and dismissal, are necessary to avoid unconstitutional impediments to President Trump’s ability to govern,” Trump attorney Emil Bove wrote in an email to the judge.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s (D) office agreed to delay the proceedings as it assesses how to respond to Trump’s demand.
“The People agree that these are unprecedented circumstances and that the arguments raised by defense counsel in correspondence to the People on Friday require careful consideration,” prosecutor Matthew Colangelo wrote to the judge.
