Here’s Why Trump-Hating Comedian Kathy Griffin Thinks Taylor Swift Cost Kamala The Election

As President Donald Trump’s many political enemies lick their wounds following his decisive victory in last week’s election, some are already starting to point fingers at individuals on their own side of the aisle.

For Kathy Griffin, the comedian who once stoked outrage by posing with a replica of Trump’s severed head, at least some of the blame for Kamala Harris’ dismal performance lies on pop superstar Taylor Swift’s shoulders.

According to TheBlaze:

She also said LGBT members and women would be under greater threat.

“Gays you may not be safe. So, to be gay in America, much less trans, ‘cuz they’re obsessed with trans people, to be LGBT in America, is not gonna be a safe thing anymore. To be a woman in America will be less safe than it already is, so take care of each other,” Griffen said.

Finally she blamed Taylor Swift for the loss.

“I know this will get me in trouble. But I really really wish Taylor Swift had done an event with Vice President Harris in Pennsylvania two months ago. OK, I just had to say that because she’s so powerful, and it’s not fair that the weight of the world should be on a pop star’s shoulders,” she added.

Griffin’s reaction to the election results sparked some social media mockery:

Of course, it wasn’t just Taylor Swift that the Democratic Party relied on to help drag the Harris campaign across the finish line last week. And according to The Hill, this celebrity-studded strategy clearly backfired in spectacular fashion:

But her campaign also had a heavy dose of glitz, from Taylor Swift’s endorsement to an appearance in the closing days of the campaign by Beyoncé, whose 2016 hit “Freedom” was used as an unofficial theme song throughout Harris’s White House bid.

Other celebs backing Harris included Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Lopez, George Clooney, Jon Bon Jovi and Cardi B.

In the end, none of that mattered. Harris lost every single swing state and saw former President Trump gain on Democrats in blue states. Washington was the only state in the union that moved toward Harris compared to the 2020 presidential contest. Trump appeared to see some of his biggest gains in California, where votes are still being counted, and in New York and New Jersey, Springsteen’s home turf.

After the devastating losses, a number of Democrats said the party needs to move on from its fascination with Hollywood and A-list celebs — along with the idea that those endorsements are helping the party.

“Somehow we think if Beyoncé is on stage, that will solve all our problems,” one Democratic strategist said.
